Position Summary

The Coordinator-Communications position is responsible for supporting the Director of Communications focusing on business operations and soccer operations in all efforts to relay information to fans, the media, partners, and employees.

Primary Responsibilities

Support creation of a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials to cover anything related to the team.

Ensures that all materials present a clear, unified, and positive image for the organization and/or brand.

Prepares, and distributes original promotional content such as media alerts, news and press releases, asset syndications, and other updates on behalf of the organization. Additionally, write and/or translate written communication into Spanish for Hispanic focused media outlets.

Help with the planning and execution of on-the field and off-the field events, including media operations at trainings and on game days

Regularly identify new press targets and maintain and update the department's media lists.

Drive consistent coverage and share compelling stories about Charlotte FC, players, business and soccer operations.

Create, distribute, manage, and log credentials to all media.

Provide public relations and media relations support for all CLTFC games - home and away and on occasion for Crown Legacy FC, the Club's MLS NEXT Pro team including translation from English to Spanish and vice-versa.

Create a calendar of global, national and local soccer events and identify opportunities to promote the club.

Assist with all fulfilling all media requests, including those from international news outlets.

Contributes to the information flow between soccer operations and business operations.

Serves as primary contact for all Spanish language media requests

Serves as primary contact for all Community relations media requests

Support yearly community impact report project

Follows MLS's media operations protocols and stays up to date on best practices.

Produce daily news reports, monitor and track media coverage of CLTFC.

Develop communications-related reports on an as-needed basis.

Other duties assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, sports management, or related field

At least 3 years of experience in sports public relations/communications or related field

Must be willing to travel, including on occasion, internationally.

Must be flexible and available to work evenings and/or weekends, nights, and holidays.

Must pass pre-employment screens.

Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual or multi-lingual skills

Experience working in the soccer, sports, and/or entertainment industry.

Essential Functions

Strong written and verbal communication skills

Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and desktop publishing software.

Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of media contacts

Punctuality, accountability, and keen attention to detail in each duty

Discretion and trustworthiness related to sensitive club-related material

Ability to work independently and in a group, and handle several tasks simultaneously

Ability to react quickly and positively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Must be able to handle confidential, privileged, and/or sensitive information with carefully and with sensitivity.

Must possess excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements

Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.

Ability to focus on projects for periods of time.

Role routinely uses standard office equipment

Lift at least 20 pounds

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment as well as outside in stadium facility environments. Candidate must be able to work both indoors and outdoors, and endure weather conditions including rain, wind, high and low temperatures, etc.

Additionally, candidate must be willing to work remotely as assigned by management and based on current business needs.
