This position will be responsible for providing production safety guidance to the Department of Film and Television at Boston University to faculty, staff, and students working on production-related entities producing theatrical motion pictures, television, and other content on local productions. This person will work closely with the Risk Management Office of the University, production personnel, Regulatory Agencies, and various other city and state departments to reinforce safety standards in all our productions. This position may also be asked to work on general safety and environmental matters. Students in the Department of Film and Television produce and shoot well over 300 film projects ranging from 3-20 minutes each year. The Production Safety Manager will train students in production safety procedures, vet all projects for potential safety issues, and oversee student productions regarding safety. 7 years of safety experience required, preferably 5 years in the entertainment industry working with productions, television, or features, including action shows, reality television, single and multi-camera, strongly preferred.Required Skills

Bachelor's degree with 5-8 years of related experience.Candidates with knowledge of critical aspects of filmmaking including camera positioning, framing, visual effects, POV, FX equipment, and routine stunt parameters and stunt performer protectionFlexibility and problem-solving skillsStrong skills in researching, understanding, and communicating regulatory compliance requirements in key filming regionsAbility to create safety materials for the internal safety department and external production crewAbility to lead internal projects and teamsAbility to travel domestically and internationally, potentially for extended periodsStrong technical writing skills are required for this position as this person will be interacting with Legal teams and Regulatory agenciesJob Location: BOSTON, Massachusetts, United StatesPosition Type: Full-Time/Regular
