PRINCIPAL FUNCTION:

In the midst of Jewish Dallas's vibrant growth, the Jewish Federation of Greater Dallas aims to take on an innovative and bold role. We are searching for an adaptable, detail-oriented, and proactive Director of Communications to join our mission.The Director of Communications will conceive, develop and implement the communications strategies to support campaign development, community partnership and planning, while strengthening the Federation’s visibility and image in pursuit of the JFGD’s mission.This position is a perfect fit for someone who can thrive in a high-volume, deadline-driven work environment. While the preference is given to the candidates residing in the DFW Metroplex, we encourage highly qualified candidates familiar with the remote work environment to apply.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:Drive content strategy and executive communications, including routine internal and external communications, press releases, talking points, and speechesCreate strong relationships with staff to be attuned to their needs and feedback for the purpose of timely and relevant internal executive communicationsDesign and create strategic internal and external communication plansQuickly learn the CEO’s preferred tone and voice for the preparation of remarks, communications, and rapid responseCreate and maintain Federation’s printed and digital collateral/assets such as one-pagers about programs that promote JFGD to external audiences such as elected officials and fundersEditor in Chief- be responsible for quality control of all internal and external communicationsPossess media strategy acumen, savviness, and connections to produce and execute creative plans for cultivating media relationships and opportunities for telling JFGD’s storyIn partnership with Director of Community Relations and Public Affairs carry the ongoing development and growth of media relations across broadcast and print mediaIn partnership with Director of Community Relations and Public Affairs, lead writer, crafting executive voice and influence for moments affecting JFGD’s strategy, agenda, and culture, including (as an example) Op-eds for JFGD and visits by powerful elected leaders and influencersBe familiar with local, state, and federal public affairs and policies to be able to write content from JFGD’s point of viewOversee development of innovative collateral, creative assets, digital and email marketing, and online/website presenceCollaborate across teams and departments to develop relevant materials promoting JFGD programs, fundraising efforts, thought leadership, advocacy, special events, and volunteerismContinually improves and leverages the Federation’s brand including messaging, voice, and tone.Retains agencies and consultants as appropriate and holds vendors accountable to meeting deadlines, budgets and quality standardsIn partnership with Development staff, manages a community campaign that includes creating goals for the program, developing and implementing marketing tactics (which includes the scheduling of telemarketing, emails, and direct mail), and tracking and reporting results to professional staff and lay leaders. This campaign targets donors under the $1000 gift levelPerforms other duties as assignedMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field required, advanced degree preferred.Experience: 7-10 years of communications or marketing experience in progressively senior roles, including supervisory responsibilities.OTHER REQUIREMENTS:Exceptional writing skills, with the ability to create clear, compelling content for a variety of audiencesWriting samples written for a CEO/Executive Leadership available upon requestCopy, script, “Case for Giving” for major fundraising, and social impact eventsExperience with nonprofit, social impact, human services, or similar issues-focused communications, marketing and brandingExperience developing, implementing, and measuring communication and engagement plans/strategiesExcellent interpersonal skills. Ability to persuasively convey the mission of the JFGD’s to diverse groups including staff, donors, board members, and the publicMust have advanced writing skills. Ability to compose clear, concise, and original materials. Editing and proofreading skills are essentialAdvanced communication skills. Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of oral, written, visual, and audial communications to determine the most effective proposals and presentation materialsThe ability to consistently produce accurate and professional work-product while under tight deadlinesExcellent problem-solving ability and proficiency at developing solutions independently.Leads effectively in crisis situationsFamiliarity with communication technologies and best practicesExcellent project management experience with ability to simultaneously manage numerous projects.Demonstrates success in planning, initiating and completing projects in collaboration with other professionals and volunteersRequired availability to work irregular hours, including nights and weekends that involve organizational events and meetingsDemonstrates ability to work with and maintain confidential informationStrong Proficiency in MS Office suite, and similar softwareMultilingual skills and/or multi-cultural or cross-cultural Jewish experience preferredCOMPENSATION AND BENEFITS:The salary range is $100,000 - $130,000 for this position plus a comprehensive benefits package. Anticipated salary near midpoint; commensurate with experience. Benefits include a 4% 403b match, hybrid work schedule, 70% contribution towards individual health plan, 10-week paid family leave, JCC membership, among others.Position Type: This is a full time, exempt level position.
