Position Summary

A leading renewable energy company in North America is seeking a Director of Power Marketing & Origination to join its growing team. This role will focus on the renewable energy sector, actively contributing to defining the power off-take strategy and engaging in market and customer outreach to originate off-take opportunities and manage customer relationships. The position will support creating value across the existing project pipeline, conducting customer research, understanding market regulatory frameworks for C&I off-take, and influencing off-take strategies for solar PV, hybrid (PV + BESS), and standalone BESS projects. The role will involve significant engagement with markets such as CAISO, ERCOT, WECC, and the Southeast, interacting with internal teams and external stakeholders including customers, intermediaries, consultants, and off-take advisory groups. This opportunity offers career growth within a dynamic environment, working for a company formed through a joint venture between two large multinational parent companies.

Responsibilities

Duties include, but are not limited to:

Originate off-take opportunities through strategic customer outreach campaigns driven by systematic research and analysis of the customer base and market.

Analyze demand signals in regulated markets by reviewing integrated resource plans, macroeconomic drivers of market load growth, and corporate sustainability targets.

Support the company's power off-take strategy for individual projects, developing revenue strategies to maximize project value and implement financeable off-take structures.

Conduct market research and engage with market participants to assess energy, REC, and capacity pricing across various ISO and non-ISO markets.

Independently identify and assess off-take leads through direct prospecting and networking efforts, establishing lasting client relationships in the renewable energy sector, including identifying RFP opportunities and originating bilateral PPA targets.

Stay informed about various off-take structures and advise on their suitability for projects in the development pipeline, including physical PPAs, virtual PPAs, utility sleeved transactions, capacity contracts, and tolling agreements.

Collaborate with the Head of Power Marketing to position projects that are matured in the development process for off-take opportunities.

Work internally with development, legal, finance & accounting, and technical teams to coordinate and support the preparation and submission of off-take proposals in response to RFPs.

Support due diligence efforts for various project acquisition opportunities by assessing off-take feasibility at project locations and providing pricing inputs for financial modeling.

Qualifications, Education, and Experience

Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline; MBA in Finance preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of overall business experience in the energy industry, with at least 5 years (preferably 7-10 years) in project off-take (energy, RECs, and capacity).

Strong relationships with potential PPA buyers (CCAs, Corporates, IOUs).

Understanding of US power markets with the ability to evaluate and provide insights into evolving market conditions.

Comprehensive knowledge of power market concepts, including physical and virtual PPAs, hedges, curtailment, SCED, basis risk, PRS, Resource Adequacy, deliverability, and power and commodity price curves is essential.

Proficient in Excel-based modeling and data manipulation within complex financial models and databases.
