Job Description

The Washington Post is seeking a Director of Internal Communications to lead the development and implementation of internal communications strategies that align with our external communications strategies, support broader business objectives, and enhance overall organizational performance.

The position reports to the Chief Communications Officer and plays a critical role in shaping and maintaining effective communication channels within the organization.

Responsibilities:Develop and execute comprehensive short- and mid-term internal communication strategies and plans that support The Post's strategic objectives and enhance employee engagement and culture.Identify company-wide communication needs by building and maintaining strong relationships with senior executives, HR, and other internal stakeholders.Manage the creation of internal communications materials, including newsletters, intranet content, and announcements. Maintain a consistent tone and messaging that aligns with the company's brand and values.Oversee the production of internal events involving senior executives, high profile guests and other learning and engagement opportunities for employees.Develop metrics to evaluate the effectiveness of internal communication strategies and initiatives. Provide regular reports to senior management on the impact and outcomes of internal communication efforts and recommend improvements.Develop and execute communication plans for internal crises, ensuring timely and accurate information dissemination.Streamline communication processes and enhance information dissemination by leveraging internal communication tools and platforms.Manage and mentor an internal communications team; lead a cross-functional team on specific engagements.Stay abreast of best practices and trends in internal communication and employee engagement.

Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in communication, journalism, public relations, or a related field.At least 10 years of experience in internal communication, corporate communication, or a similar role.Previous experience working with media or consumer/brand focused companies.Proven track record of developing and implementing successful and modern internal communication strategies and campaigns and building trust with senior leaders.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling and engaging messages for diverse audiences.A self-starter who can set and meet ambitious goals.Exceptional time management, project management, and organizational skills.Strong leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire a team.Highly collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to build relationships and work effectively with multiple stakeholders and across different levels of the organization.Curious, flexible and the ability to think creatively.

Benefits may vary based on the job, full-time or part-time schedule, location, and collectively bargained status.

The salary range for this position is:149,900.00 - 278,300.00 USD Annual

The actual salary within this range will depend on individual skills, experience, and qualifications as they relate to specific job requirements. This position may be eligible for a bonus or incentive program, and a member of the Talent Acquisition team will discuss bonus payment terms and conditions during the interview process.
