ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION AND THE OPPORTUNITY

EdTrust seeks a Digital Communications Manager II to join the organization’s national Communications team. The Manager II will join a staff who is committed and dedicated to fulfilling our mission of advancing policies and practices to dismantle the racial and economic barriers embedded in the American education system. Through our research and advocacy, EdTrust improves equity in education from preschool through college, engages diverse communities dedicated to equity and justice, and increases political and public will to build an education system where all students will thrive.The Digital Communications Manager II provides expertise in digital communications and serves in a leading role within the Communications team, managing day-to-day implementation of strategic social media communications efforts and spearheading advocacy efforts. The incumbent plays a pivotal role in amplifying and promoting the organization’s policy positions and advocacy messages to advance educational equity through EdTrust’s social media channels.Available immediately, this role is based in our Washington, DC office and offers a hybrid schedule up to three days a week. The Digital Communications Manager II reports to the Editorial Director.ABOUT THE ROLE

The responsibilities and objectives for this role include, but are not limited to, the following:Lead all aspects of social media to advance the overall strategic communications and the organization's brand to meet goals and objectives, including paid media and digital advertisingConceptualize and organize the successful releases of EdTrust and partner-branded digital campaigns and content to promote EdTrust’s messaging with intended audiences centered around eliminating disparities in student opportunities and enhancing student outcomesWrite, edit, and proofread digital content that is consistently accurate, on message, and accessible to our audiences, including website content, blog posts, newsletters, email engagement series, donation solicitations, and other communications materials for public disseminationCultivate and maintain relationships with advocates and other equity partners (individuals and organizations) with active online communications reputations to amplify EdTrust’s work and key messages, and garner positive digital media attentionTrack and analyze data on key digital communications metrics to help assess our impact.reach and decision-makingMonitor, track, and engage with relevant trending social media topics to identify opportunities to promote EdTrust resources. Additionally, stay abreast of the news cycle and promote EdTrust’s advocacy tools and research to inform and advance the conversation on social media.Lead and coordinate collaboration across the organization to maximize the reach of our messages across digital media platforms, website, and email campaignsProvide support to colleagues and spokespeople to help them engage in digital advocacy to advance education equity on their state-specific and personal social media channelsAssist our various state teams with their digital strategy and provide them with technical supportKeep abreast of EdTrust’s education policy positions and research, as well as best practices in social media, email marketing, and paid advertisingIDEAL SKILLS AND CHARACTERISTICS

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and experience:

At least a bachelor’s degree4-5 years of experience in digital communications or marketing, including current and nascent social media platforms, email marketing, paid advertising, and web content. Short-form video production and photography experience a plusExperience with social media publishing tools, content management systems, and email marketing and customer relations management platforms (e.g., EveryAction, Sprout Social, WordPress, Salesforce, etc.)Experience working at a nonprofit, familiarity with or knowledge of issue advocacy and prominent education topics, particularly education equity issuesVACCINATION FOR COVID-19At EdTrust, the health and safety of our employees is of the utmost importance.
