Spanish Music Teacher

Reports to: Head of School/Music Director

Hours: 8:30am-5:30pm

Position OverviewArgo Navis School seeks an inspiring Spanish Music Teacher who is responsible for teaching music education to students in grades K-8th Grade and leads the school's chorus and ensembles. The ideal person for this job speaks Spanish fluently and is invested in our dual-language program by only teaching in Spanish. This is a unique opportunity to lead a dual-immersion music program and help build the program into High School.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teaches general music K-8th grade including theory, harmony, appreciation, history, and ensemble. Utilizes repertoire of all types of music literature, including traditional and contemporary that are appropriate for the ages and skill levels of students.Teaches private music lessons as well as leads group lessonsDifferentiate music curriculum to meet the needs of the individual student and the student body.Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior to provide an orderly, productive environment during practice, group rehearsals, and music performances.Evaluates each student’s musical growth and contribution to the performance of the group that allows everyone to contribute.Communicates clearly with parents and school faculty/staff on the progress of individual students.Maintains care/responsibility for school-owned music, musical instruments, and equipment to prevent loss or abuse.Cooperation with Head of School and staff in providing musical programs for school assemblies, open house, parent meetings and seasonal programs.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Strong instrumental skills, including piano and guitar

Physical Capabilities

Be able to lift 25-30 lbs.Be able to walk, squat/kneel, sit on floor, see, hear, speak with children to ensure children’s health and safetyOther

Must submit a criminal background checkMust be up to date with all health vaccinations and tests (including tuberculosis testing and Covid vaccinations) as decided by both the State of California and City Kids School.Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $50,000-$55,000
