Position: Visual Arts Specialist

Role Overview:

As a Visual Arts Specialist at CACS, you'll be the driving force behind our visual arts curriculum, guiding students through a transformative journey of self-expression and creativity. Working closely with our dedicated faculty, you'll craft a dynamic studio-based program that integrates art seamlessly into our students' lives. Your mission? To spark imaginations, ignite passions, and nurture the next generation of artists and thinkers.

Visual Arts Specialist Responsibilities:Craft and Implement Curriculum : Develop a comprehensive, studio-based visual arts curriculum that ignites curiosity and cultivates artistic excellence. From foundational skills to advanced techniques, your lessons inspire students to explore, experiment, and create.Personalized Learning : Tailor your instruction to meet the diverse needs of our students, including those with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and English Language Learners (ELLs). Through differentiated activities and assessments, you'll ensure that every child has the opportunity to shine.Collaborative Partnerships : Forge meaningful partnerships with fellow arts educators, classroom teachers, and community artists. Together, you'll brainstorm ideas, co-teach interdisciplinary lessons, and bring arts integration to life in our classrooms.Showcase Student Talent : Showcase student artwork through captivating displays, exhibitions, and performances. Whether it's a gallery walk in the hallway or a multimedia showcase, you'll celebrate the creativity and achievements of our budding artists. Establish and maintain a portfolio of student work for each student.Studio Environment : Cultivate a supportive and inspiring studio environment where students feel empowered to take risks, express themselves, and develop their artistic voice. Through the Studio Habits of Mind, you'll foster critical thinking, perseverance, and collaboration in every budding artist.Parent Engagement : Foster strong connections with parents and guardians by regularly sharing student progress and artwork. Through open communication and collaborative projects, you'll build a vibrant arts community that extends beyond the school walls.Professional Growth : Stay current with best practices in arts education through ongoing professional development and collaboration with peers. As a lifelong learner, you'll continuously refine your craft and inspire others to do the same.

Additional Professional Duties:Community Engagement : Participate in school events and meetings, including Back to School Night, Spring Show, and Family Arts Night. By showcasing student artwork and engaging with families, you'll strengthen our school community and promote the arts.Professional Development : Attend staff meetings and professional development sessions to enhance your teaching skills and stay abreast of emerging trends in arts education. Your commitment to continuous improvement will inspire both colleagues and students alike.

Qualifications:Credentials and Experience : Possess a California Clear Teaching Credential in Art, along with a minimum of five years of successful classroom art teaching experience at the elementary and middle school levels.Artistic Excellence : Demonstrate a deep passion for the visual arts and a strong creative practice. Your artwork, whether through painting, sculpture, or mixed media, serves as a source of inspiration for your students.Collaborative Spirit : Excel in collaborative environments and thrive on teamwork. Your ability to partner with colleagues, parents, and community members enriches the educational experience for all.Equity and Inclusion : Embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion in all aspects of your teaching practice. Benefit Conditions:Competitive salary range: $69,169.00 - $120,718.00 per year, commensurate with experience and qualifications.A comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as a flexible spending account, health savings account, and life insurance.Professional development stipends to support ongoing learning and growth.On-site Union representation for advocacy and support.Monthly staff appreciation lunches and stipends for participation in committee work, evening events, and other extracurricular activities.Paid CPR/First Aid training to ensure the safety and well-being of students.

Schedule:

Full-time, 8-hour shift Monday to Friday
