Graphic design is a unique artform. And great graphic design is something we celebrate here at The Hartford’s inhouse agency. Design is so much more than just making something look pretty. The right design can be the thing that makes your content seen and heard. We’re looking for someone with a knack for delivering designs that surprise and delight – and a portfolio full of ideas. As part of our team, you’ll get to work with some very talented, genuine people. It’s a team that includes creative directors, art-directors and copywriters who have tons of agency experience. And they’ve got a passion for big thinking without the need for big egos. As for the work, it’s always different, which keeps things fresh.

We create everything from videos and advertising to collateral, events, environmental design and more.

And we want a detail-oriented designer who knows how to:

Use their design expertise to create innovative and engaging work

Work with writers to come up with creative solutions to client requests

Effectively manage and track multiple projects

Handle high-volume, quick-turn production work

Present ideas to creative leadership, manage feedback and deliver great work

Stay connected to your work to ensure a flawless finish

Provide design support for a range of clients and project types

Participate as a collaborative problem-solver

Communicate constructively and actively listen

Work as part of a great team, helping and supporting others along the way

This role will have a Hybrid work arrangement, with the expectation of working in the Hartford, CT office, 3 days a week (Tuesday through Thursday).

Qualifications

A portfolio/website link needs to be included in your resume

Strong graphic design experience and capabilities

Able to challenge conventional creative approaches with new tactics and

innovative executions

Bachelor’s degree required

Solid foundation of critical thinking skills

Minimum of 5 years of experience at an external agency or in-house agency required

Prior experience developing collateral

Proficient using the Adobe CC suite including InDesign, Photoshop and Illustrator – After Effects experience a plus

Basic proficiency using Microsoft Office Suite

Understands the nuances when designing for different media and audience types

Actively learns new techniques to be more proficient with persuasion skills

Clear and effective communication skills

Ability to review creative briefs to ensure full understanding of the objectives

Knows how to make the most of brand standards that leads to exciting design

Pragmatic, creative thinker that consistently keeps an eye on the objectives of the assignment

Manages details well, maintains accuracy and always delivers on time

Compensation

The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:

$74,000 - $111,000
