Urban Design is more important than ever as mobility infrastructure continues to see historic levels of funding. This position will provide expertise in the design of the public realm and human centered mobility. This opportunity entails being responsible for independently developing design and technical solutions, plans and reports for urban design projects, landscape architectural projects, transportation projects or for portions of larger projects. This position would be responsible for managing assigned project(s) throughout their full lifecycle including developing the scope and technical sections of proposal and procurement documents to participating in contract negotiations and overseeing the delivery of the project plan to successfully accomplish HNTB’s 4 for 4 performance: delivery of quality work, on time, on budget and to the client’s satisfaction on every project. This position proactively manages the budget, schedule, technical requirements, contractual obligations, and client communications in support of the project’s objectives. What You'll Do:
Responsible for development of the project scope and fee quotation and assists in the preparation of technical proposals and contracts in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Contracting Approach (SCA).
Serves as the primary client liaison and manages the project team to deliver the scope, schedule, and budgets to completion and to the client’s satisfaction. Leads or actively participates in client contract scoping and negotiations.
Leads and prepares design documents, technical plans, written reports on projects
Implements the firm’s project delivery plan using HNTB's Sophisticated Delivery Approach (SDA) on each project. Leads the development and the execution of the project management plan. Supervises and mentors team to overall project objectives.
Responsible for/oversees project staffing, including, but not limited to; recruitment, hiring, development, retention, and succession of project staff; development of plan for project staff reporting; and support for performance and compensation reviews.
Partners with Client Service Leaders and pursuit champions to assist with business development, building client relationships and pursuit efforts for mini-mega and mega projects in accordance with HNTB's Sophisticated Sales Approach (SSA). Works with the project team and marketing resources to prepare appropriate proposal and presentation materials. Leads proposal development and interview presentations for strategic, mini-mega and mega projects to the client as well as general presentations within the industry and community.
May be responsible for the recruitment, hiring, development and retention of staff, including development of plan for staff reporting, performance and compensation reviews, and succession.

What You'll Need:
Bachelor's degree in Planning, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design, Engineering, Geology, Biology, Environmental Science, Anthropology, Archaeology, or related field and 10 years relevant experience
2 years of successful management of projects
What You'll Bring:
Urban Design expertise and best practices for design of the public realm and human centered mobility.
Is savvy in relationship development and understands the nuances of partnerships and political drivers.
Creates a team environment and serves as the lead interface with clients and consultants on complex projects.
Provides competency in design and production of construction/technical documents (i.e., PS&E) utilizing attention to detail.
Has experience identify/mitigate risks and solving project conflicts, particularly between above-grade and below-grade elements.
Serves as a connector and translator between disciplines and subject matter experts to accomplish project goals.
Serves as a mentor and oversees the work of less experienced staff.
Winning, contracting, and successfully delivering 4for4 (on-time, on-budget, quality, client satisfaction) on multi-disciplined projects requiring an urban design lens. Identifying and handling risk and change management with guidance from more experienced staff.
Developing successors to work with same client on other work.
What We Prefer:
Master's degree in Landscape Architecture, Architecture, Urban Design or related field.
Registered Landscape Architect (RLA), Registered Architect (RA), Certified American Institute of Certified Planner (AICP), Envision, Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design Accredited Professional (LEED AP)
12 years relevant experience
