Johnson & Johnson MedTech is currently recruiting for a Director, Global Strategic Communications, Surgery. This is a hybrid in-person role with a preferred location of Raritan, NJ. Consideration will be given to candidates in the United Kingdom and Santa Clara, CA.

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Senior Director, Global Surgery Communications, this critical role will lead global communications strategy and execution for the Surgery business, articulating a clear strategy, value proposition, and messaging in support of the business priorities today and future vision for Surgery and extending this work across all relevant internal and external audiences.

Partnering directly with senior leaders across Johnson & Johnson MedTech’s $4.8B surgery business, this role will provide strategic counsel and guide internal and external campaigns reaching employees, media, customers, and investor audiences.

Leading a team as well as agency and contractor resources, this role will deliver programs in executive thought leadership, employee communications, change management, and increasing brand visibility.

This high-visibility position requires an experienced professional with a strong background in the highly-regulated healthcare industry, strategic internal and external communications, and change management.

Lead strategic global communications

for the Surgery business, articulating a clear strategy, value proposition, and messaging in support of the business priorities today and future vision for Surgery and extending this work across all relevant internal and external audiences.

Serve as a valued counselor to a team of leaders

across Strategy, R&D, Supply Chain, Business Development, HR, Commercial, and Finance to connect business objectives with communications outcomes.

Drive a comprehensive employee communications program

for the global organization, connecting the transformation programs, business strategy and breakthrough moments back to the employee base.

Lead and implement the global thought leadership program

across tier 1 event/speaking, media, and internal and external content strategy for select senior Surgery leaders to communicate our Surgery value proposition, the global transformation of Surgery, and connecting our business priorities to the stories we tell all external audiences.

Manage a direct team as well as agency and contractors

to support the transformation and employee communications programs, ensuring quality and excellence in all communications products.

Partner across the J&J enterprise

, working with the change management leaders and coordinating with other Surgery, region, and sector communications leaders to connect global strategy to in-market thought leadership opportunities and localization of global employee communications programs.

Proactively drive results across earned and paid media and social media

channels and partner to manage issues as needed.

Qualifications

Education:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree is required in communication, journalism, PR, public affairs, or closely related field

Experience and Skills:

Required:

Minimum Of ten (10) Years Of Experience Managing Communication in a large company, NGO, Government Agency Or Public Relations Agency.

Demonstrated ability to build deep, authentic, successful relationships with top executives and scientists and strong influence with senior internal and external partners.

Exceptional attention to detail with superior writing and presentation development skills.

Proven track record of successful, independent public relations/communications, corporate communication, science communication, product communication, public affairs, and/or media relations achievements.

Deep understanding of media and business analytics, traditional media, digital and social platforms and strong experience with national and local consumer, professional/trade and social media.

Experience running internal communications programs focused on change management, building culture and activating an organization around shared business objectives.

Experience in managing budgets, agency partners, and resource allocation across large critical projects.

Preferred:

Current or past work experience in both external communications or marketing and organizational communications is preferred.

Proven experience in healthcare communications is preferred.

Other:

Up to 10% domestic and international travel required

The anticipated base pay range for this position is $142,000 to $244,950.

California Bay Area - The anticipated base pay range for this position is $163,000 to $281,750.

The Company maintains highly competitive, performance-based compensation programs. Under current guidelines, this position is eligible for an annual performance bonus in accordance with the terms of the applicable plan. The annual performance bonus is a cash bonus intended to provide an incentive to achieve annual targeted results by rewarding for individual and the corporation’s performance over a calendar/performance year. Bonuses are awarded at the Company’s discretion on an individual basis.

Employees and/or eligible dependents may be eligible to participate in the following Company sponsored employee benefit programs: medical, dental, vision, life insurance, short- and long-term disability, business accident insurance, and group legal insurance.

Employees may be eligible to participate in the Company’s consolidated retirement plan (pension) and savings plan (401(k)).

Employees are eligible for the following time off benefits:

Vacation – up to 120 hours per calendar year

Sick time - up to 40 hours per calendar year; for employees who reside in the State of Washington – up to 56 hours per calendar year

Holiday pay, including Floating Holidays – up to 13 days per calendar year of Work, Personal and Family Time - up to 40 hours per calendar year
