Come join us in making these goals a reality on all projects and the communities in which they are located.In the role of Design Principal, we'll count on you to:Develop highly innovative, creative, integrated and effective high performance design solutions.Have an established design reputation evident through design awards, publications, education or other venues, and positive client references.Guide initial design concepts and ideas from pursuit and selection through successful project completion on multiple projects.Meet design excellence and regenerative design goals while managing project budgets.Engage colleagues to meet firm-wide sustainable initiatives, elevate sustainable design literacy and ensure that an integrated design process is occurring on all projects.Teach and train other designers and interdisciplinary AE project teams in the essentials of design excellence and in the critical tenets of HDR’s Design Philosophy.Mentor and develop junior design staff, challenging, inspiring and motivating others to pursue design excellence.Lead design efforts from multiple offices, partnering with office management, project management, and AEP discipline leaders.Identify, attract and retain key design staff, targeting and developing strategies for hiring senior and junior design talent.Be active in local, national or international professional design related organizations.Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.Implement QA/QC procedures.Supervise large project staffs and act as mentor for less-experienced Project Managers.Perform other duties as needed.Preferred Qualifications

Experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED.PMP certification.Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Architecture.15 years related experience.A minimum of 7 years project management experience.Registered Architect.Experience on large-scale projects.Ability to lead a team on projects and make client presentations.Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).Extensive knowledge and experience within the local and regional market.Strong team leadership, mentoring, motivational/organizational and people skills.Excellent written and verbal communication skills.Willingness to travel.Commitment to being an active participant in our employee-owned culture.What We Believe
