Job Summary:

Crooked Media is looking for an LA-based audio engineer to record, assemble, and mix our daily news podcast, What A Day.

This position is full time, and requires a 40 hour time commitment each week.

The engineer will work evenings, 1pm-9pm, hours subject to change, Sunday through Thursday.

The position includes working on What A Day, as well as working in the studio and mixing other podcasts as needed.

The ideal candidate is a team player and enjoys a fast-paced, deadline driven environment. Interest in helping people understand the news is also a plus!

Crooked is moving towards a hybrid work model for our entire staff. Ideally looking for Los Angeles based candidates, or candidates willing to relocate within the first 3 months of accepting an offer.

How You'll Spend Your Time:

Setting up and testing sound equipment before each recordingRunning studio sessions (both remote and in person)Mixing sessions to proper loudness specs, sourcing and placing music on deadlineResolving technical issues when they ariseEditing, mixing, and sound designing podcastsEditing, mixing and sound designing other audio (promos, ads, etc.) as assignedCollaborating with producers, videographers, and other team members

What You'll Bring To The Table:

3+ years experience with sound editing and recording equipmentTechnical expertise in sound engineering techniquesExpertise in ProTools and a working knowledge of other recording software and hardwareExpertise in recording using Zoom and RiversideUnderstanding of field recording kits such as Zoom H4N and Zoom Podtrack P4 a plus!A team player with excellent communication skillsA self-motivated, proactive, accountable and nice attitudeCreativity in audio productionExpertise in mixing multitrack sessions

When we open up a position, we conduct a market analysis to ensure we have the most up-to-date data. Once we're ready to extend an offer, we look at the individual's years of relevant experience and other compensable factors to determine a competitive offer. And for this role, the starting salary range is $90,000 - $95,000.
