The Communications Manager oversees the organization’s website, social media, and digital content, which includes strategic messaging, patron engagement, and campaign execution across multiple platforms. This role involves collaborating closely with the Content Creator, Playhouse Manager, and Database Manager while reporting to the Director of Marketing. Additionally, the Communications Manager handles website updates, copywriting, and collateral development while supporting marketing initiatives through graphic design and email marketing.RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

SOCIAL MEDIA MANAGEMENT:

Strategize and implement company-wide social media messaging across all channels including Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, and Spotify.Serve as social media administrator for all channels, monitoring and responding to comments and messages and keeping profile graphics and account information up-to-date.Manage and create paid social media ad campaigns with the Director of Marketing, including creating graphics, writing copy, and recommending strategic audience segmentation and budget distribution.Stay up to date on social media trends and track performance metrics to make informed content and strategy decisions based on the results.In collaboration with the Content Creator, research and create ideas for TikTok videos and Instagram reels related to the current season and the ASC community. Attend promo photo/video shoots.Monitor and respond to patron inquiries and comments sent to the marketing@ and info@ email addresses.Update the publicity expenses budget line and submit check requests as needed.WEBSITE MANAGEMENT:

Serve as ASC’s primary website manager (a custom Groundplan site with WordPress CRM system) and point of contact for ASC’s third-party hosting company.Build new web pages for events, shows, programs, etc., which includes creating graphics, copywriting/editing, formatting, and adjusting SEO settings.Manage updates for all existing web pages, including troubleshooting technical issues.Create the digital program for each new season, including content and bio gathering, graphic design, copywriting/editing, and formatting. Collaborate with the Content Creator as needed.Coordinate the ASC Blog, which includes developing topics, writing content and/or sourcing content from other writers, copyediting, graphic design, and formatting.Research and collaborate on cross-departmental communication with Education and Artistic for updates on programs and shows.EMAIL AND TEXT MESSAGE COMMUNICATIONS:

Write, design, and format all marketing emails through Mailchimp, which includes collaborating with the Director of Marketing on strategy and content development.Track analytics and review performance reports of previous emails to make informed content and strategy recommendations based on the results.In tandem with the Database Manager, ensure the email contact list is kept updated.Manage all text message communication to patrons, liaising with the third-party support team. This includes being on call to assist with emergency patron communication for show cancellations.WRITTEN AND VISUAL COMMUNICATION:

Serve as copyeditor and proofreader for the Patron Loyalty team, overseeing all external patron communications. This includes writing and/or editing marketing copy for season materials and events.In collaboration with the Content Creator, design graphics through Canva for social media, website, emails, Meta ads, partner ad trades, production title treatments, etc.Serve as the administrator of ASC’s Canva team account and brand kit.Ensure consistent use of ASC’s voice and brand guidelines across all communications.Write and distribute press releases to communicate key ASC announcements in collaboration with the Director of Marketing.GENERAL:

Attend the first read and final dress rehearsal for each production.Recommend and execute marketing and communication strategies related to theatre and Shakespeare.Deliver insights on Shakespeare, theatre, and classic literature to the Patron Loyalty team, providing context and details about the season’s plays as needed.Coordinate and attend marketing photo/video shoots, as needed by the Content Creator.Assist in coordinating and updating the company-wide messaging calendar.Review all script licensing agreements to ensure marketing compliance.Coordinate and communicate with third-party contracted vendors, as needed.Attend staff meetings and work closely with the Patron Loyalty team to diversify audiences and focus on community engagement through digital content.Research and pursue opportunities to grow ASC’s digital presence.Stay up-to-date on marketing and communication trends, best practices, and new technologies through continuous learning and professional development.Other duties as needed or assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be able to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.Skilled copy and content writer, copy editor, and proofreader.Experience with social media management and knowledge of social media strategy.Proficient in designing and creating dynamic and innovative digital content.Adept at following brand guidelines and writing in an organization’s voice.Well-versed in customer service, interpersonal, and collaboration skills.Proficient in written and verbal communication.Skilled with time management, organization, and meeting deadlines.Knowledge of WordPress and/or other web content management systems.Self-motivated, tech-savvy, detail-oriented, and adept at troubleshooting and creative problem-solving.Knowledge of theatre, Shakespeare’s plays, and classic literature or willingness to focus on quickly gaining this knowledge.Ability to assist with press relations and coordinating with third-party vendors.Experience with Canva graphic design, email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp), digital ads (e.g. Meta ads), and Meta Business Suite preferred.Familiarity with Salesforce CRM platforms is appreciated but not required.Committed to ongoing learning and staying up-to-date on industry trends and practices.COMPENSATIONThe Communications Manager is a full-time, non-exempt, salaried position at
