The Northeast Conference, an NCAA Division I athletic conference headquartered in Bridgewater, New Jersey, is seeking qualified candidates for a Communications Assistant position for the 2024-25 academic year. Reporting to the Senior Associate Commissioner (PR/Digital Media/TV), the Communications Assistant will collaborate with the NEC’s external relations team to enhance the conference's visibility across various media platforms.Dates:This 2024-25 position will commence in August and conclude on June 30, 2025.Primary duties:Act as primary communications contact for assigned sports (to be determined).Manage the weekly awards program, write releases and maintain statistics for assigned sports.Develop preseason poll and postseason awards releases.Generate daily content, such as scoreboards, basic infographics and video clips, for conference social media platforms.Assist in creating and sharing gameday highlights/reels across NEC social platforms.Manage and update sport recordbooks.Provide on-site or remote social media coverage at conference championships, NEC Media Days and special events.Serve as the media coordinator at select NEC Championships.Updates schedules and post stories on the NEC’s official website.Strive to create a safe and inclusive community across NEC social media platforms by promoting conference initiatives that prioritize unity, social justice and diversity, equity and inclusion in the NEC’s public messaging.Conduct Zoom and in-person interviews with NEC student-athletes, coaches and alumni that serve as the basis for content.Assist in compiling NEC Academic Honor Roll lists.Perform other duties and projects as assigned.Qualifications:Bachelor’s Degree required.Strong writing skills with attention to detail and knowledge of terminology used in all NEC sponsored sports.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop and InDesign) and Microsoft Office.Previous communications experience in intercollegiate athletics or professional sports preferred.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.Excellent time management skills to balance multiple responsibilities and meet deadlines.This position primarily operates remotely; however, the ideal candidate should reside in or be willing to relocate to the greater New York Metropolitan area to attend staff days at the NEC office in Bridgewater, NJ, as well as NEC Championships and meetings/events.Flexibility is essential for travel, evening and weekend commitments, particularly during championship seasons.Application:
