This position has primary responsibility for internal and external communications/marketing of HOPE Church, website updating and maintenance, to assist in preparations of publications, and to be a general communication assistant to the ministry staff of HOPE Church.MINISTRY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned.Communicate the mission of HOPE Church in compelling ways through various creative means.Create and execute a strategic marketing plan for HOPE information, events, and ministries. This would include internal and external marketing and promotion.Manage all HOPE social media channels and content.Manage in-service announcement strategy and graphics, and scheduling announcements team.Be the advertising contact for those who want to discuss HOPE advertising with their business. Getting info to media sources (ex: radio ads, newspaper ads, graphics, etc.)Work closely with Communications Department members in preparing graphics and publications for marketing.Brainstorm with staff ministry team effective ways to communicate events, ministries, and sermon series.Assist ministry teams and volunteers in effective communication of ideas in written documents and images.Assist in planning and execution of events in cooperation with the ministry staff of HOPE.Be a general assistant in the area of communications to the ministry staff of HOPE.Offer input during budget season as to upcoming income/expense changes.Personally build relationships with other communications workers that reflect Jesus’ love.QUALIFICATIONS

Be committed to Jesus Christ and His church and committed to excellence in His service, maintaining personal godly values.Agree with the doctrine, mission, values, and vision of HOPE.To have training and skills in marketing and communications.Excellent skills in branding.Proficient skills in video production, graphic design, and photography.Proficiency in, or strong aptitude to learn the following computer programs: Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro), Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), InDesign, WordPress, and other programs used in the work of various ministries.The following attributes: creative, flexible, deadline-oriented, detail oriented.Able to prioritize demands from various departments and communicate priorities tactfully.Able to relate to people in a variety of settings, demonstrating excellent interpersonal skills (i.e., groups, individuals, all ages, etc.).TRAINING & DEVELOPMENT

The Director of Communications will receive guidance, instruction, and support from the Director of Generosity and Operations. It is expected that the Director of Communication to take part in recommended training and development activities, as suggested by the Director of Generosity and Operations. It is assumed that training and learning will be an ongoing part of this staff position.TIME COMMITMENTFull-time position: 40-45 daytime hours per week Monday - Friday, with occasional evenings and weekend assignments; an understanding that more or less hours could be needed during certain time periods.WORKING RELATIONSHIPSResponsible for:The HOPE staff and teams under the ministry areas defined above.Responsible to:Director of Generosity and Operations.Works closely with:The church staff, church council, and a variety of church lay leadership.LENGTH OF SERVICEThe length of service will be for an indefinite period of time.HOPE STAFF TEAM EXPECTATIONSBe present and/or participate in weekly worship services.Function as part of a team; working to maintain and develop relationships within the staff, to exercise care in disagreements, and to be supportive of one another on the staff team. Any concerns should be communicated in a timely and biblical manner.Maintain regular hours determined in cooperation with the Director of Generosity and Operations.Attend the following meetings:

Regular staff meetingsStaff, council, or ministry division retreats as requested by the Lead Pastor or Executive Pastor

This includes working to protect the reputation of each of the staff and the entire church.Provide leadership and operations to specific areas of ministry.Because HOPE has a high volunteer ethic it is expected that specific attention will be given to cultivate volunteers in the areas of ministry and responsibility.Coordinate and communicate ministry plan and activities with other staff to ensure a coordinated work and a team approach.Not performing these duties or meeting the expectations may result in evaluation of the position and potential termination.If requested to surrender the staff position, do so in such a way as to not damage the reputation, ministry, and unity of HOPE Church.HOPE Church is an Evangelical Covenant Church (ECC) in Grand Forks, ND.
