This position is located in Cobb County Property Management Department.

Under general direction, plans and manages the work of a department division, including staff, private contractors and vendors to accomplish the work required to construct, repair, and maintain County facilities.

Work is performed independently with professional review through conferences and reports. Purpose of the work is to ensure clean and environmentally safe working and business conditions in buildings and facilities throughout the County for employees and the general public.

Provides comprehensive county planning support to all Property Management Planning, Design & Construction capital projects, including the development and/or guidance of project scopes, programs, program adjustments, and revisions in development.

Responsible for long-range county planning, capital planning program development and feasibility studies for major renovation and new construction projects for Property Management.

Determines best delivery approach for planning, design, and construction of county projects.

Oversees and manages the design process for new facilities and renovations to ensure that standards, quality, schedule, and budget are met.

Provides technical support to Property Management Operations and Maintenance Department on issues such as, but not limited to, ADA, fire safety, architectural maintenance issues, etc.

Prepares and maintains Property Management’s Architectural/Engineering Design Guidelines and Construction Standards and ensures that all guidelines and standards meet city, county, and state code requirements.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum QualificationsBachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Architectural Engineering, Engineering, Construction Management or related field; supplemented by seven years of progressively responsible related experience, such as in architecture, engineering, construction management, including inspections, architectural and site plans review, and contracts administration; to include five years of lead and supervisory experience ; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities for this job.

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License.

Tasks require the ability to exert light physical effort in sedentary to light work, but which may involve some lifting, carrying, pushing and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods of time at a keyboard or workstation.

Sensory Requirements

Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.

Environmental Factors

Essential functions are regularly performed without exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
