Design Review Officer Level 6/7 Pool

The Design Review Officer and Senior Design Review Officer work collaboratively with proponent groups, referral agencies, design teams and stakeholders to support State Design Review Panel (SDRP) and other design review activities. The SDRP is a multi-disciplinary panel of highly experienced built environment professionals that provides independent advice on the design quality of major development proposals.In these roles, you’ll be an indispensable member of a close-knit team operating within an often dynamic and fast-paced environment, dealing with large scale, complex projects. You will be liaising with proponent groups, design teams and stakeholders to case manage proposals through the design review process, including assisting the Design Review Coordinator to help plan design review sessions, preparing briefing papers/presentations and well-written, clear, and concise design review reports. The Senior Design Review Officer will also support and guide other Design Review Officers in undertaking similar duties.These roles support design review pertaining to applications submitted as part of the Planning and Development Act 2005 Part 11B Significant Development Pathway as well as those referred from other State Government agencies and other key stakeholders.Responsibilities may also include the provision of advice for other design quality related matters as required by the Design and Built Environment directorate. Such advice may relate to the design and procurement of precincts and major developments, public works and places, as well as design quality related planning policy and strategy.This is an open pool recruitment process for permanent full-time, and fixed term full-time opportunities. Suitable applicants will be placed in a Pool from which appointments may be made for similar vacancies for a period of 12 months.We have two full-time permanent appointments available for immediate filling and consideration will be given to applicants seeking part-time opportunities. This process may be used to fill future similar permanent or fixed-term positions that may arise across the WA public sector in the next 12 months from the initial date of appointment.To be successful for the Design Review Officer, Level 6 position, you will need to demonstrate:An accredited tertiary degree qualification in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or Urban and Regional Planning and/or Development or acceptable equivalent.Demonstrated experience in the delivery of architectural, landscape architectural or urban design services, particularly pre-design, design and implementation of projects.Demonstrated awareness of the design principles of State Planning Policy 7.0: Design of the Built Environment.Well-developed visual, written and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Knowledge of current and emerging trends in built environment design, development and planning.Demonstrated behaviours within the leadership context of Personal Leadership as outlined below.To be successful for the level 7, Senior Design Review Officer, you will need to demonstrate:An accredited tertiary degree qualification in, Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design or Urban and Regional Planning and/or Development or acceptable equivalent.Demonstrated experience in the delivery of architectural, landscape architectural or urban design services particularly pre-design, design, and implementation of complex projects.Demonstrated understanding of the design principles of State Planning Policy 7.0: Design of the Built Environment.Excellent visual, written, and verbal communication and stakeholder engagement skills.Knowledge of current and emerging trends in built environment design, development, and planning.Demonstrated behaviours within the leadership context of Personal Leadership as outlined below.Core leadership behaviours outlined in Leadership Expectations
