Teal Drones, a wholly owned subsidiary of Red Cat Holdings, is looking to fill a position for a full-time PCB Layout Designer. Teal is a rapidly growing technology company focused on creating world-class system solutions serving a broad range of applications for design and development of Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS drones) for use in defense, public safety, and other government security organizations.As a PCB Layout Designer, you will work closely with electrical and mechanical engineers to create complex printed circuit boards (PCBs). During especially busy times, the layout workload may need to be distributed to outside contractors, who will be managed collaboratively between the PCB Layout Designer and the electrical engineers. This role is the go-to for defining and maintaining design rules, providing guidance on fabrication and assembly drawing notes, and being the authority on footprint design, with a focus on camera systems.This role reports to the Director of Electrical Engineering.Location: In Office (up to 2 days/week remote)Expected hire date: September 2024Responsibilities

PCB floor planning and volumetric placement studiesCollaborate with electrical engineers on material selection, stack up planning, and component placementCoordinate with mechanical, electrical, and RF engineers on critical board dimensions, keep outs, and component locationsCoordinate and manage external contract layout resources as neededCommunicate with PCB fabrication and assembly vendors to understand their process capabilitiesDefine CAD design rulesExecute detailed PCB routing on rigid, rigid-flex, and flex substratesPerform delay matching of high-speed bussesMaintain fabrication and assembly documentation templatesDraw and review new and existing PCB library footprintsPerform other duties as assigned.Qualifications

2-year Associates Degree or 7 years total relevant work experienceIPC Certified Interconnect Designer Advanced (CID+)Good understanding of component placement for best electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) performanceProficiency in Altium DesignerDetailed understanding of PCB fabrication and assembly processesExperience with large pin count (>200) and tight pitch BGAs (0.35, 0.4mm)Experience with HDI (blind and buried vias, laser microvias)Physical Requirements:

Ability to stand, sit, or walk for extended periods while performing design and layout tasks.Fine motor skills and dexterity to handle small components and tools, especially during PCB assembly and inspection.Capability to lift and carry objects up to 25 pounds, such as equipment, tools, or supplies.Visual acuity to accurately perform tasks involving detailed work with electronic components and PCBs, including the use of microscopes or magnifying tools.Proficient hand-eye coordination to draw and review PCB layouts and library footprints.Stamina to work in various positions, including sitting for long hours at a computer workstation.Ability to hear and interpret instructions and communicate effectively with team members and external vendors.Adherence to safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment within the office and laboratory areas.Additional Information
