Marketing & Nutrition Specialist, School Nutrition Services (Food Services Fund)

Job Title: Marketing & Nutrition Specialist, School Nutrition Services (Food Services Fund) Reports To: Dietetic Supervisor, School Nutrition Services Classification: Professional Wage/Hour Status: Exempt Days: 230 Salary: See Compensation Plan for Administrative/Professional Pay Plan, Pay Grade 101 Date Revised: 8/2/2024 Primary Purpose: To positively impact the School Nutrition Services Department by developing and supporting nutrition education and marketing programs, while assisting in planning student menus for all students. This position will oversee all marketing programs, materials, processes, objectives and initiatives to help to create the customer experience appropriate to SBISD School Nutrition Services standards. Qualifications/Skills: Education/Certification:

* Bachelor's degree strongly preferred in either Food and Nutrition, Marketing, or related field.* Member in American Dietetic Association as a Registered Dietitian is preferred.* Certification from a municipal health department and/or ServeSafe strongly preferred.

Special Knowledge/Skills:

* Support operations team by helping to create the customer experience appropriate to SBISD School Nutrition Services standards and brand.* Ability to develop ideas, create goals, and market school food.* Knowledge of recipe standardization, development, and testing.* Broad knowledge of Canva, MS Office, Adobe, and editing software.* Knowledge of merchandising and promotions.* Strong attention to detail and ability to manage concurrent projects required.* Above average ability to follow instructions, plan work, and work effectively with students, staff and faculty.* Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.* Ability to work independently and in a team environment.* Ability to adapt quickly and successfully to changes; deliver quality results in a timely manner.* Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality, exercise sound judgement and discretion.* Skill in providing excellent customer service to internal and external customers.

Experience:

* Minimum of one year of marketing experience or equivalent education in marketing or related field of study preferred.* K-12 School Nutrition experience is strongly preferred.

Major Duties and

Responsibilities: Operations:

* Assist in planning menus that meet Texas Department of Agriculture and USDA program requirements, including but not limited to using district approved computer software programs.* Develop and manage implementation of department marketing program and resources available to the public through website, signage, merchandising and social media outlets.* Visit campuses to observe special diet procedure compliance, review menu acceptability, presentation and ensure that standardized recipes are appropriate for quality, acceptability, operational efficiency, etc.* Reviews menus acceptance and suggests products that meet student acceptability.* Assist with maintaining food allergy alerts.* Evaluate new products and continually seeks innovative ways to improve processes and procedures.* Plan marketing and promotional activities for all meals. Schedule monthly, and as needed, promotions to support district, state and federal initiatives.* Provide strategic support to campuses and identifies opportunities to drive growth, customer engagement.* Oversee marketing outreach in areas such as recruiting, promotions, communication, free/reduced application process, etc.* Coordinate with Communications department on upcoming marketing outreach* Assist and oversee menu board development and design* Oversee and develop marketing, advertising and promotional activities internally and externally.* Monitor, review and report on all marketing activity and results monthly to leadership team.* Assist and ensure success of department event preparations and execution

Support:

* Must meet required annual Professional Standards for School Nutrition Professionals* Attend workshops, training, and seminars to keep abreast of current research and information.* Provide training on menu items and recipes.* Provide nutrition education to students and campus personnel as necessary.* Assist in monitoring the district's local wellness policy.

Other:

* Perform other duties as assigned.* Ability to work flexible hours required to meet departmental needs and functions; may include early mornings, evenings, holidays and summer months.

* Repetitive hand motions.* Prolonged use of the computer.* Frequent sitting, stooping, bending, pushing and pulling.* Infrequent after-hours participation in Board Meetings, caterings, health fairs, and other District events.* Some travel to trainings and conferences.* Moving small stacks of textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
