Prepares adolescent, adult and geriatric patients and equipment for sleep disorders testing. Monitors the polysomnogram and documents per policy.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
* Arrives to work in a timely manner. Reviews the activity list for the nights duties and patients.* Reviews assigned patient charts, greets patients, completes appropriate paperwork and pre-test assessment.* Applies recording sensors, acclimatizes patient to Continuous Positive Airway Pressure (CPAP) if applicable, and performs pre-recording calibration.* Monitors the recording during the evening per protocol including documentation and interventions as needed.* Ends the recording per protocol, completes appropriate post-study documentation, removal of sensors and cleanup as needed.* Scores polysomnograms as needed and prepares report for dictation. Assists in training, orientation and competency assessments as needed.
REQUIRED:
* Must possess good written and oral communication skills.* Demonstrated expertise in sleep disorders, sleep activity, abnormalities, movement arousals, and respirations.* One (1) year experience in sleep study activity.* Current American Heart Association's Basic Life Support Certification (BLS).* Must possess current and unrestricted certification or registration in one of the following: Board of Registered Polysomnographic Technologists (BRPT) Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT)
