The primary responsibility of a Media Coordinator is to contribute to the overall media plan development and stewardship while learning the basic fundamentals of the media and communications planning process. A Media Coordinator will be working with both the Media Manager and Media Planner. The Coordinator provides assistance to other members of the strategic planning team in performing functions related to the planning process.

This is a highly supervised, entry level position on the US Nets, News and Sports Team. This position will contribute to the creation of tune-in focused media plans across FOOD Network, TNT, tbs, OWN, Adult Swim, and CNN, Specifically, this position works directly with the strategic planning team on media assignments across the following mediums: OOH, print, TV, radio, non-traditional/stunt activations, display and video digital media and social media. Maintaining accurate records, communicating with buying agency, working directly with accounting and the buying agency on the accrual, resolving discrepancies, inputting data and becoming conversant with media terms and systems.

Your Role Accountabilities…

Media Planning – Under close supervision of the Media Manager, assists in the preparation of media plans by developing flowcharts, requesting costs from buying agency and recommending tactics that fulfill the marketing objectives set forth by various WBD divisions to encourage use of our products. Learns use of syndicated, internal and industry research and uses these tools to develop rationale to support recommendations. Develops working knowledge of various media and how they fulfill communication objectives and how they work in a media mix, balancing the need for quality with an eye to efficiency, learning media math and cost outs. Maintains positive relationships with internal and external media providers in order to stay current on new media and creative uses of traditional media.

Buying Agency Management – Assists the Media Manager in communicating strategy, stewarding buys and serving as liaison between WBD and the buying agency across all media. Maintains positive relationships with internal and external media providers in order to stay current on new media opportunities. Puts together buy specs, reviews buy authorizations, and maintains flowcharts with final buy prices.

Account Service – Accompanied by the Media Manager attends relevant marketing meetings to increase knowledge of client brand and position. Learns to present new and creative media opportunities to aid WBD divisions in breaking through the clutter of the competitive landscape. Learns to present media overviews, competitive spending summaries and media points-of-views. Builds and maintains positive relationships with marketing, as it relates to their assigned project list. Develops/sends posting instructions for OOH placements, maintains perm flowchart and productions grids.

Qualifications & Experience…

4-year college degree preferably in Advertising, Marketing or a related field.

Internship in agency or in-house media planning and/or buying. At least 1 year agency experience preferred.

Good organizational skills and attention to detail
