Who You Are

Verkada is building out our Communications team and seeking an experienced professional to join us as a Communications Manager. This strong team player will be responsible for cultivating and telling Verkada's story, driving proactive and corporate PR initiatives to elevate our brand awareness. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, ever-evolving environment, possesses a growth and development mindset, stays self-motivated, and leads with a positive attitude. Reporting directly to the Vice President of Communications & Public Affairs, this role will work closely with Verkada's executive team, including our CEO and other senior leaders, to develop strategic content, manage key media relationships, and craft trend and feature stories for top-tier press. This role is in office and headquarted in San Mateo, CA.

What You'll Do

In this role, you will develop media strategies, craft messaging and positioning around key company priorities (such as product and business announcements, as well as thought leadership initiatives). There is also opportunity to stretch into different areas that you have interest in - such as government relations or brand marketing. Additional duties include:Crafft, pitch, and drive story ideas and content to business, technology, and broadcast reporters and B2B influencers to drive coverage.Draft and edit press releases, pitches, briefing documents, media summaries, and more.Drive positioning and messaging for major company initiatives, including quarterly financial earnings and responses to key issues, including crisis management.Lead the creation of strategic content and rapid responses to industry developments - including proactive pitches, keynote presentations, Op-Eds/bylines, written and video content, blogs, storylines, company statements, FAQs, talking points, and more.Provide strategic communications counsel and coaching to C-level executives (including the CEO) and Verkada spokespeople, including speaking and media training and interview preparation.What You'll Need

5+ years of experience in Communications, Public Relations, Public AffairsExcellent media relations background and strong media relationships; successful history working on feature stories, profiles, executive Q&As, and contributed contentExperience managing executive engagements at conferences and eventsStrong business acumen, analytical ability, and outstanding written and oral communication skillsSharp eye for detail, great writer, and proven project management skillsFlexible - demonstrated ability to prioritize and reprioritize taskUS Perks & Benefits

Pay Disclosure

At Verkada, we want to attract and retain the best employees, and compensate them in a way that appropriately and fairly values their individual contribution to the company. With that in mind, we carefully consider a number of factors to determine the appropriate starting pay for an employee, including their primary work location and an assessment of a candidate's skills and experience, as well as market demands and internal parity. This estimate can vary based on the factors described above, so the actual starting annual base salary may be above or below this range. This estimate is also just one component of Verkada's total rewards package. A Verkada employee may be eligible for additional forms of compensation, depending on their role, including sales incentives, discretionary bonuses, and/or equity in the company in the form of Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

$115,000-$160,000 USD
