General Summary & Essential Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARYPerforms highly responsible professional functions coordinating, overseeing and managing all department level marketing activities. Responsibilities include all social media activity, content creation and website updates, campaign creation for numerous platforms, overseeing marketing consultant, and special event coordination for opportunities generated through the Economic Development Office.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSConstantly monitors news and events that are relevant to area businesses, businesses considering relocating to Charlotte County, employers, developers, real estate agents, elected officials, and other development partners.Posts and updates all social media accounts with news and events. Ensures public knows what Economic Development does and the Office's involvement in the community.Monitors and updates Economic Development website. Makes changes as needed to generate maximum engagement with target audiences.Creates and maintains promotional material.Oversees outside marketing consultant and works with consultant on new campaigns, generation of new content, and best ideas for reaching intended targets.Develops and maintains marketing campaigns to assist Business Recruitment Manager with attraction efforts. Uses Lightcast/Gazelle software to research firms in select markets that show an interest in relocating and Lightcast/EMSI for demographic research.Works with Economic Development team in the planning, coordinating, creating, and promoting special events or programs to implement new development within the County; attends events and represents the County; and provides other support to ensure event success.Researches and evaluates data regarding business and community needs; coordinates with local business, community partners, universities, and others to give/receive advice and input; and prepares program resources and information.Attends and participates in a variety of boards, committees and meetings; provides information, updates, guidance, and advice on projects and programs.Performs marketing and public relations duties; provides information and answers questions regarding Economic Development programs and guidelines; attends meetings, trade shows and expos; develops and makes presentations to businesses and community groups.Identifies and applies for grants from various private and governmental organizations to implement redevelopment projects.Performs basic administrative duties including written reports, meeting minutes, memorandums, letters and electronic correspondence, interaction with others, and communication through telephone and meetings.Provides exceptional customer assistance, problem-solving, and/or complaint resolution by all forms of communication.Min. Education and Experience:An equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience:

Bachelor's Degree

Preferred:

MarketingBusiness AdministrationUrban Planning

Five (5) years of experience in social media or marketing

Licenses and/or Certificates:

Must maintain a valid driver's license.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of departmental policies, plans, and procedures.Knowledge of modern office practices, plans, and procedures.Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other job-related computer programs and software applications including EMSI, Gazelle, and Hubspot.Skill in social media platformsSkill in research and statistical principles.Skill in effective communication, both orally and in writing.Skill in prioritizing and organizing work.Skill in the use of office equipment such as a computer, multi-line telephone system, scanner, fax machine, and copier.Ability to work both independently and with direction.Ability to develop effective proposals and ability to present those proposals to the public.Ability to meet deadlines.Ability to adapt to new software packages, as necessary.Ability to work evenings, weekends, and attend out-of-town functions involving overnight travel, if needed.Ability to operate a motor vehicle.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with public officials, department heads, representatives of other organizations, peers, subordinates, and the general public.Ability to exercise judgment and discretion in applying and interpreting department rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.Ability to provide internal/external guidance and customer assistance via all forms of communication.
