Purpose: The Grant Writer (Grant Coordinator) will work in partnership with the Supervisor, Grants Management to perform grant-related activities at Trillium Health, including identifying new funding opportunities, writing proposals, and overseeing the development and submission of grant proposals. This role involves collaboration within and across departments to ensure alignment with organizational capacity, funding needs, and strategic goals.

Grant Writing

Write clear, structured, and persuasive proposals.

Tailor proposals to the specific interests and guidelines of each funder.

Conduct thorough research to support proposal claims and enhance the credibility of applications.

Identification and Evaluation of New Grant Opportunities

Develop a deep understanding of current grants and the programs they support.

Proactively seek new funding sources aligned with the organization’s strategic priorities.

Engage in initial discussions with potential funders and internal stakeholders

Maintain a database of opportunities and funder contacts

Proposal Development, Preparation, and Submission

Coordinate the development of grant proposals ensuring they meet all funder requirements and deadlines.

Facilitate communication across departments regarding grant-related information and deadlines

Assemble and review proposals for completeness and accuracy.

Collaborate with finance and program departments to ensure alignment between narrative and financial documents.

Maintain and update grant documentation, including record of all submissions and outcomes

Project Management

Lead and manage project teams throughout the lifecycle of grants

Assist with budget management and subcontracting processes

Monitor and report on program progress and compliance with grant requirements

Provide guidance on project management principles to ensure successful project execution and reporting

Qualifications

Proven track record in grant writing including, but not limited to, local and state government grants, federal funding requests, local United Way grants, capacity building proposals, and funding requests to private and family foundations (ranging from $25,000 to $2M). Preferred a minimum of three to four years’ experience in grant administration and project management, as well as a direct program provision and/or management. Requires demonstrated working knowledge of grants and grant administration systems, processes, and budgeting. Ability to comprehend and make inferences from written material and systematically compile information to prepare reports; review the work products of others to ensure conformance to standards; communicate with strong oral and written skills and a proven ability to effectively interface and work with individuals within and outside of the organization; work effectively and collaborate with a variety of staff at all levels in the organization, governmental representatives, and foundation program officers. Must be highly proficient in Word and Excel.

Physical Requirements

While performing the duties of this job the employee is required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms, talk and hear. Occasionally the employee must stoop, bend and lift or move up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
