This is a full time, hybrid role with our office in New York City. This position does require 3 days in office and 2 days that can be completed remotely from home.
Who We Are Looking For:
The ideal candidate will have a background in graphic, print + typography design, particularly in creating licensed sports artwork for consumer products. Extra points if you’ve worked in childrenswear! You will be responsible for a broad range of design from black and white sketches, to developing unique prints + graphics for our licensed sports brands, to choosing fabric + trims - all which honor our commitment to being a trusted partner in the parenting journey! In this role you’ll work on a diverse assortment of projects and brands. You’ll own sketching bodies for newborn, infant and toddler products, including layette, playwear, activewear, bedding, bath, and plush toys. You will partner with highly creative and collaborative design, merchandising, product management and sourcing teams, so strong communication skills are important! Having an enthusiastic, consumer-focused, mindset for design and the creative process, is a must. The salary range for this position is $75,000 - $85,000 per year.
What You'll Do:
Create apparel graphics and prints for our sport licensed childrenswear business as well as build out catalogs + brand licensing sheets.
Maintain an active understanding of trends in sports apparel and sports / pop culture, consumer insights, new business opportunities, and competitors in the market to influence design aesthetic and strategy.
Routinely conduct trend research/trend shop for embellishment techniques, including screen print, heat transfers and appliques, embroidery, etc.
Manage multiple design projects simultaneously and meet deadlines.
Confidently share fresh perspectives that will enhance creativity and promote new ideas through written and verbal communications to internal partners.
Select and approve styles, materials, trims and colors that fit into the program and line plans.
Work closely with Product Coordinators on new silhouettes and revising existing ones, as well as reviewing and commenting on counter and development samples.
Create and input of all necessary information on catalogs for assistant designers, product development and sourcing teams.
Produce flat sketches, color cards, artwork and create print patterns in repeat for development packages.
Who You Are:
Knowledge of garment construction, production art, silhouettes and fabrication (core + performance) and trim development.
Have a passion for sports.
Must have ability to analyze and interpret market trends as it relates to the brands as demonstrated through a portfolio of professional work.
Exceptional Mac skills: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, etc.
Strong sense of graphics, typography, color and pattern.
Working knowledge of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tool preferred.
2-5 years of design experience (preferably in licensed sports apparel).
Exhibit inquisitiveness, excellent communication, and analytical skills.
Strong time management and creative problem-solving skills.
Occasional travel required for inspirational shopping.
