Position Summary

Under the support and mentoring of the Associate Director, Proposals, we are looking for a Proposal Writer to join our team. The Proposal Writer will work closely with Business Development (Sales), Program Management, and Operations to generate proposals, statements of work (SOWs), and change orders that meet the needs of the client in terms of scope, price, timeline, and deliverables while ensuring the request is a good fit for the facility from a capabilities and capacity perspective. The Proposals team is responsible for execution of the proposal process to ensure that all proposals are delivered on time in an efficient, accurate, and detail-oriented manner.

The main responsibility of a Proposal Writer is to develop the scope, pricing, and timeline of proposals for both new and ongoing programs and ensure scopes are adequately reviewed before being delivered to the client. This position will work with management and key stakeholders to support execution of the broader business processes. In addition, the Proposals team plays a key role in the continuous improvement of our cost productivity processes to maximize profitability and in standardizing the proposal process. The Proposal Writer is expected to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams to ensure appropriate technical and commercial input into proposals, applying one’s own technical knowledge and the input from key stakeholders and the client. The ideal candidate will have experience within the biologics manufacturing space. Strong communication and organizational skills are imperative. More specifically, the responsibilities below are expected from the Proposal Manager role at Scorpius BioManufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the proposal process and liaise with Program Management, Business Development, clients, and key site stakeholders on the timely generation of proposals, SOWs, and change ordersParticipate in weekly cross-functional team meetings to ensure new opportunities are a good fit for the site in terms of capabilities and available capacityHold and/or participate in technical review meetings with prospective clients and current partners to collect relevant information required to draft comprehensive proposals and review drafted proposals throughout the lifecycle of an opportunityLead internal technical review meetings to ensure alignment with site capabilities and capacityTransition proposals into executable SOWs and participate in BD-to-PM handoff activitiesPartner with Business Development and Program Management as the primary customer-facing team, establishing project governance and effective communication between the customer, site technical teams, and senior managementExperience with government contracts or grants required.Provide support to Business Development on strategy and/or negotiation of proposals/SOWs to facilitate efficient advancement of opportunities through the funnelSupport client site visits by assisting Business Development and Program Management in the planning and execution of the site visitAssist and/or lead strategic continuous improvement projects at the site to develop more robust business processes and streamline current practicesOther duties, as assignedEducation & Experience

Minimum requirement is a Bachelor of Science with a minimum of 4-6 years of scientific or biotechnology experience in a R&D, manufacturing, project management, or related technical support role; or a Master of Science degree with a minimum of 2 years of scientific or biotechnology experience.Previous experience writing microbial and mammalian CDMO proposals is strongly preferred; experience writing US Government proposals or grants is ideal.Knowledge & Skills

Candidate may be expected to travel to San Antonio for a week of onboarding. The candidate may also need to travel to the manufacturing site in San Antonio to support client visits.While performing the job duties, the employee is regularly required to sit, reach with hands and arms, and talk or hear.
