Overview

The Construction Expeditor/Laborer position supports the Native Village of Chenega in rural remote Alaska. Provides the experience, knowledge, and technical skills to assist in logistical support for remote construction projects in Prince William Sound.The primary activities of this role will be in the field and require communication and organization skills, dependability, and knowledge of common construction materials and their transport.

Responsibilities

Summary:The Construction Expeditor/Laborer position supports the Native Village of Chenega in rural remote Alaska. Provides the experience, knowledge, and technical skills to assist in logistical support for remote construction projects in Prince William Sound.The primary activities of this role will be in the field and require communication and organization skills, dependability, and knowledge of common construction materials and their transport.Duties and Responsibilities:Transport of materials and equipment needed for construction and village infrastructure projects.General maintenance of vehicles and equipmentGeneral warehouse maintenance and organizationFollow the direction of the Construction Team Lead and/or the Construction Project ManagerOperation of various construction and vehicular equipmentIdentify and help mitigate job site and warehouse safety issues and adhere to work site safety plans in daily operations to maintain a safe work environment for employees, subcontractors, and vendors.Responsible for material handling and cartage (manually and mechanically).Administrative duties include but are not limited to daily job reports, planning, budgeting, and other project documentation as required.This position is primarily Anchorage-based and will have stints of remote work required.Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

(To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.)High school diploma/GED preferred.Valid Alaska Driver’s License.Maintains a favorable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR).Construction/Warehouse industry experience preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Familiar with the uses and operation of common trade tools and equipmentCompetent in the use of technologyAbility to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Council members, the Tribal Administrator and Council staff, village residents, Chenega Corporation staff, vendors, outside agencies, and the public.Ability to organize time efficiently, work with minimal supervision, be self-directed, and work independently.Ability to perform multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while delivering excellent service to internal and external customers.Ability to improvise, adapt to challenges, and work in a flexible environment.Successful applicants must have excellent organization and interpersonal skills.
