General Information & Responsibilities

The Social Media Coordinator is responsible for working collaboratively with the Director of Marketing and Public Relations to manage the district-wide social media initiative, create unique and engaging content and develop strategies consistent with the strategic initiatives of the College that enhance our brand and online presence.

Description of Duties

DESCRIPTION OF ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

Assists in the development of a district-wide social media strategy.

Manages all official college social media accounts.

Provides monthly evaluation of all social media accounts including monthly reporting of analytics and performance trends, online reviews and feedback.

Plans and produces creative written, video, photographic and graphic content for use across all platforms that is consistent with the college brand standards. Acquires content as appropriate adhering to college policies for copywrite use.

Researches and is knowledgeable of current and emerging social media trends, platforms and technologies to enhance our social media performance and effectiveness.

Monitors college’s reputation on social media and recommends appropriate responses to negative posts.

Coordinates social media across campus departments providing direction and guidance while ensuring consistency in procedures and brand voice.

Leads a social media advisory committee consisting of employees who manage departmental social media accounts to provide training, resources and networking opportunities.

Leads a committee of social media student influencers to create content specific to current and prospective students.

Creates and manages social media content calendar to coordinate with recruitment, student services and departments.

Attends student and employee college events and community events.

Plans and writes creative marketing content for the website, social media, native advertising and marketing campaigns as assigned.

Writes creative content, takes photos and creates graphics for social media platforms for the college.

Assists with market research projects such as surveys, focus groups, and questionnaire development specific to social media including areas involving content, usage and user preferences.

Assists in advertising and promotional campaigns by managing content and posts to social media that compliment and support them.

DESCRIPTION OF OTHER DUTIES:

Assists in planning and executing marketing and public relations special events such as news conferences, ground breakings and ribbon cuttings.

Edits/proofs marketing material and web site content prior to publication as assigned.

Assists with emergency notifications and situations, such as College closings, as assigned.

Plans, writes, and disseminates public relations news releases for all forms of media as assigned.

Works with marketing staff to monitor and maximize SEO in all content creation

Assists with marketing and public relations projects and initiatives as assigned.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications or related field required.

Three years’ experience managing a multi-platform social media presence with demonstrated ability to create unique and engaging social media content for an organization.

Understanding of social media metrics to improve engagement and increase overall impressions.

Experience in short-form storytelling, creating video, photographic and written content for social media.

Demonstrated strong written and oral communication skills.

Experience with social media management software such as Hootsuite and creative software such as Adobe Creative Suite preferred.

Flexibility of schedule to attend college and community events on evenings and weekends.

Valid driver’s license and satisfactory MVR required.
