Minimum Qualifications Non-Competitive: Bachelor’s degree in an art or design field such as art, drawing, painting, illustration, digital design, or interactive media; or associate’s degree in the same fields and two years of experience.*If verifiable, we will accept and prorate appropriate part-time and volunteer experience.

Duties Description The Graphic Designer 1 position is located in the NYC Regional Office. The incumbent of this position reports to the Administrative Specialist 1 and the Regional Admin Team. The Regional management team includes the Deputy Director, and the Regional Director. The selected candidate’s responsibilities include:• Confer with the NYC Region’s management and program administrators to discuss and determine design strategies. • Advise Regional management on the best approach to deliver message and reach target audience. • Design creative products that are consistent with the communications channels to be used that will invoke the desired audience behavior and response. • Review final designs with Regional management and make needed improvements. • Design various printed and electronic products by selecting appropriate graphics, placement of illustrations, proper color, style, and size of fonts. • Produce still and animated graphics for various modes of media. • Create a regular volume of illustrations for websites, banners, newsletters, flyers, videos, etc. • Take photographs for use in media materials.• Shoot and edit videos, and record and edit audio tracks. • Ensure that agency design guidelines regarding logos, color themes and other creative aspects are consistently and accurately applied across all platforms. • Develop specifications for creative products and services to be produced externally; and obtain quotes from vendors. • Maintain the region’s photo archive and additional library of artifacts (e.g., logos, illustrations, etc.) and ensure efficient storage for easy retrieval by staff. • Order necessary supplies and equipment. • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:• Must be detail-oriented with a proven capacity to multitask, with a high standard for accuracy and accustomed to working in a team environment and work independently as needed with set priorities.• Must have a proven sense of design and have keen visual acuity. • Must possess effective communication skills and have the ability to understand written and/or verbal material and instructions.• The candidate must be proficient in Microsoft Office applications as well as be proficient with Apple products. • Must be willing to support additional tasks and projects as assigned by the Regional Office.• Must be willing to support tasks and projects at other work sites in the New York City Region.• Fluency in Spanish preferred.
