Position OverviewThe Vice President of Communications and Marketing Operations will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive communications, employee engagement and marketing strategy that supports Mercury's business objectives, enhances its reputation, and strengthens its global brand presence. The Vice President partners on Mercury's top campaigns, leading to an improved "probability of win." Reporting directly to the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO), this role also integrates communications and marketing efforts with Human Resources to drive employee engagement, brand alignment, and corporate culture. The ideal candidate will be a seasoned communications and marketing professional with deep experience in the aerospace or technology sectors and a background in marketing operations.Key Responsibilities- Strategic Communications Leadership: Develop and implement a strategic communications and marketing plan that aligns with the company's vision, mission, and priorities to foster a cohesive culture.- Media Relations: Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, industry analysts, and influencers. This function serves as the company's primary spokesperson and manages media inquiries, interviews and press releases.- Internal Communications: Oversee internal communications strategies in partnership with HR to ensure consistent and clear messaging across the organization. Foster employee engagement by promoting a transparent, informed, inclusive and connected workforce.- Crisis Management: Lead the company's crisis communication efforts, including preparing for and responding to emergencies, controversies, or other high-stakes situations. Develop and maintain crisis communication plans and protocols.- Marketing Operations: Direct marketing operations, including branding, analytics, content creation, and promotional campaigns. Collaborate closely across the organization to reinforce the employer brand.- Digital and Social Media Strategy: Direct the company's digital communications and marketing strategy, including content creation, social media management, and online reputation management. Leverage digital tools to enhance brand visibility and stakeholder engagement.Brand Management: Ensure consistent brand messaging across all communication and marketing channels. Manage corporate branding initiatives to enhance both external and internal brand perception.- Executive Communications: Partner with the CEO and Executive Leadership Team to develop and deliver key messages to internal and external audiences, including speeches, presentations, and thought leadership content. Take a lead role in organizing communications and content for special events, including investor presentations and other external stakeholder engagements.- Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing communications and marketing team. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and resoect within the department.QualificationsRequired:- Bachelor's degree in communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field; Master's degree preferred.- Minimum of 15 years of experience in communications, marketing, or related roles, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership position, including positions in an operating unit and in a corporate office.- Proven track record in leading communications and marketing strategy within the aerospace, technology, or defense industries.- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience serving as a company spokesperson.- Strong understanding of media relations, digital communications, marketing operations, and social media strategies.- Experience managing crisis communications and navigating complex, high-stakes situations.- Ability to build and maintain relationships with media and industry stakeholders.- Demonstrated leadership abilities, with experience leading and developing high-performing teams.- Strong business acumen and the ability to align communications and marketing strategy with business goals.Preferred :- Master's degree preferred- Strong preference for experience in Aerospace & Defense industry or experience working in a technology focused organization
