The Brand Design group is an in-house creative team - part of the Marketing Department - that services all internal constituents of Datadog, including the Events, Demand Generation, Communications and Partnership functions. The group is composed of 20 Designers and Illustrators located in New York City that deliver a wide range of projects such as ad campaigns, web design, event branding and signage, reports and e-books, etc.The Brand Design team is a close-knit group that shares a passion for craft, supported by a culture that sees design as an integral part of Datadog's success. Check out our work!We're seeking a talented, energetic, organized and assertive Data Visualization and Infographics Specialist to redefine and firm out Datadog's visual language to display data. You will be a part of the Brand Design team, collaborating with a wide range of stakeholders to assess the current state of data visualization in the company to recommend rules, styles and tools. You will also create custom infographics and schematics for various types of content. We operate as a hybrid workplace to ensure our employees can create a work-life harmony that best fits them.What You'll Do:Perform an audit of data visualization within the company and in the Datadog product to draw broad guidelines and detect discrepancies to recommend improvementsAssess which tool is most fit for all employees to create engineering diagrams and create relevant component libraries for AWS, Azure and Google Cloud architecturesCollaborating closely with Marketing, Product Design, Technical Community, Sales and leadership teams, you will act as a point of contact for all departments to align specific narrative constructs into visually impactful infographics or schematics.Feed and maintain a library of elements for infographics and diagrams: icons, symbols, logos, etc.Possess a strong fundamental knowledge base in the visual design disciplines (typography, iconography, composition and layout, color, etc.) and the production of reports with a high number of infographicsDemonstrate an ability to handle multiple projects and respond to numerous, last minute creative directions and editsAssist the Brand Design team by handling various design projects during peaks of workloadWho You Are:8 to 10 years of experience in the field of Graphic Design and Data VisualizationExperience in editorial design a plusAdvanced design, Adobe Illustrator and Creative Suite skills, with a diverse portfolio of integrated and innovative workStrong conceptual thinker with the ability to take abstract ideas and turn them into meaningful and impactful schematics or infographicsAdvanced client-facing capability (able to analyze data points and document content, guide a brief, recommend a type of diagram and then develop and art-direct it)Experience creating and maintaining corporate style guides and brand systemsStrong knowledge of tools to create diagrams or engineering architecture drawingsExceptional communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills while working with all levels within the companyAbility to take direction, work collaboratively in a fast-paced, deadline driven environmentExceptional attention to detail is a mustAbility to navigate ambiguous situations, identify and solve for blockers, and know when to escalate to keep projects and process development moving forwardCapability to learn and master the Datadog Brand Guidelines to align with our creative visionSelf-motivated and directed person, requiring minimal supervision for successful completion of dutiesCollaborative team playerAdaptable and able to embrace future changesDatadog values people from all walks of life. Actual compensation is based on factors such as the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
