Job Summary

This position performs specialized media design duties in support of the public relations and marketing functions of the assigned area.

M1 - DOEMinimum Requirements

Associate degree in a course of study directly related to the occupational field. High School diploma or equivalent and any combination of post-secondary education or additional relevant experience which provides the expertise required to effectively perform the functions of the position may substitute for the Associate degree on a year-for-year basis.

Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the occupational field, sufficient to understand the major duties of the position, and to be able to answer questions and resolve problems. Relevant experience may include: graphic design for print, web, and other media outlets, social media content creation and page management, web design and maintenance, newsletter layout and content coordination, and other public engagement and communications projects.

Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver's license issued by the State of Alaska for the type of vehicle or equipment operated.Completion of required Incident Command System (ICS) courses in accordance with established Borough policy.

Must successfully pass a pre-employment background check, drug screen and physical.Duties/Responsibilities

Creates a variety of graphics, brochures, booklets, posters, back-drops, etc.Attends events as assigned to capture video and photographs.Uploads and maintains media on server.Develops radio ads and public service announcements.Maintains audio/visual equipment; operates audio/visual equipment for live events (press conferences, public meetings, etc.); and, provides audio/visual support as directed.Manages website content, creates posts and monitors social media sites in accordance with established criteria.Co-produces video programs and develops presentations to support a wide range of projects.Serves as a Public Information Officer during emergency and disaster situations as directed by Public Affairs.Generates press releases on a variety of topics in accordance with established Borough policy.Installs and maintains specialized photographic equipment.Performs related duties.

Temporary and on-call employees for the Mat-Su Borough do not receive a benefits package. Following is a brief description of the only benefit provided to this class of employee.

Alaska Supplemental Benefits System:

The Supplemental Benefits System (SBS) is in lieu of Social Security and is mandatory. An employee contributes at 6.13% of gross wages, matched by the Borough (6.13%), on the present wage base of $132,900.

I understand that the schedule for this position will vary based on operational needs and the hours will be limited to less than 30 per week and 1,000 per 12 month period.
