ABOUT OUR COMPANYPhiladelphia was awarded the 16th Major League Soccer franchise in February, 2008 and the team was officially announced as the Philadelphia Union in May, 2009. Owned and operated by Union Sports and Entertainment, the group launched the Philadelphia Union's inaugural season in 2010 and opened what is now Subaru Park in June, 2010. Subaru Park is an 18,500 seat, world-class soccer specific stadium that sits beautifully along the Delaware River at the base of the Commodore Barry Bridge and is only 15 miles from downtown Philadelphia.

The club has reached the finals of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup in 2014, 2015 and 2018, and has appeared in the MLS Cup Playoffs in 2011, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, securing their first showing in the CONCACAF Champions League in 2021. In 2020, the Union were awarded the club's first Supporters' Shield after finishing with the best regular season record in MLS. The club hosted the Eastern Conference Final in 2021 and were named the Eastern Conference Champions in 2022. The Philadelphia Union have once again clinched a berth in the 2023 Scotiabank CONCACAF Champions League. The 2022 season finished at the MLS Cup against LAFC, in one of the most intense matches in League history!

ABOUT THIS ROLEThe Philadelphia Union is seeking an energetic and collaborative Coordinator, Grassroots Marketing to drive the Philadelphia brand throughout Philadelphia. The Coordinator, Grassroots Marketing is responsible for building relationships with key stakeholders in the community, generating new leads for Phang's Kids Club, and helping provide access to the game & brand to drive fandom. This position will help develop & execute the Club's grassroots and community marketing strategy and work across all business functions of the Club and primarily collaborate with community, digital and social, and ticket sales. Duties include the following.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESGrassroots OperationsBuild and manage an event schedule and securing locations for over 150 events per year, with a strong focus on youth soccer and community events while managing the day-to-day calendar and overarching strategyArrange all needed materials and equipment (Union giveaways, Sponsorship materials, Phang's Kids Club materials, gas, beverages and food for the Event Operation intern crew) necessary for executing the eventsActively seek and schedule new event opportunities for the Union to be involved withHire, schedule, and communicate with Event Operations interns for each event (intern availability)Coordinate any Union player requests for the event if necessary and prepare all needed materials for Union player appearance at the event (player cards, sharpies, extra chair and table, extra tent and beverage for the player)Arranges the ideation and ordering of all promotional premiums/giveaways for the marketing departmentEvent Management

Communicate all logistics and event details with the point of contact at the event (Set-up, activities, location)Collaborate with the digital and social teams to ensure content capture and posting plans are clear and scheduledCommunicate logistics and event details with sponsors and partners at the event (set-up, activities, location)Actively educate patrons about Union product and ticket offeringsGame Day Plaza

Determine overall space layout for each home game by collaborating with Marketing, Game Ops and Corporate Partnerships teamScheduling of interns to help run plaza activitiesOn game day, assist the Game Operations team with necessary setup and execution of planned promotions, on-field experiences, and other duties as assignedInteract with fans and kids at the Union table by giving away Union prizes, sponsor coupons and materials as well as promoting upcoming Union eventsMascot Program Management

Responsible for event scheduling (free and paid) for the Union mascot, PhangManages schedule for multiple performers and arranges payroll for mascot performersDevelop and manage the mascot personality and work with digital media team for mascot digital content upkeep (website and social media)Maintain all mascot costuming, suits, materials, and outfittingNote that the Grassroots Coordinator does not serve as the actual mascotQUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree required; preferably in Marketing, Event Marketing or Sports ManagementPreferred minimum of 1-2 years of experience in marketing and/or event managementMust have a valid driver's licenseFrequently must be able to lift up to 50 poundsMust be available to work nights and weekendsThe ability to work independently and in a team/collaborative work environment is required along with strong organizational, interpersonal and planning skillsPreferred:
