The Los Angeles office of SmithGroup is looking for a Lead Designer to join our team.

Working with us, you will:

Work with project teams to lead architectural design for all project phases including conceptual designs, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documents and production.Collaborate and coordinate with other designers, medical planners, project architects and engineers.Produce architectural drawings, renderings and design assignments.Prepare and lead design presentations and participate in project interviews.Provide oversight and monitoring of the work performed by junior staff.Mentor junior staff and participate in performance coaching.Participate in employment interviews and serve as design expert as requested.An ideal candidate has:

A professional degree in Architecture.Minimum 15 years of professional experience as an architectural designer leading and working with medium to large-sized projects.LEED AP preferred. Architectural Registration preferred.A strong and diverse design portfolio.Experience leading design teams and project groups required.Proficiency with and experience using current design software including Revit, SketchUp, AutoCAD, and other modeling software programs such as Rhino and 3D Studio Max.Exemplary leadership skills, strong written and verbal communication, and organizational skills to help facilitate the development of trusted relationships with clients and staff.

SmithGroup's competitive compensation and benefit package is designed meet the needs of a diverse staff. The anticipated salary range for this position is $120,000 to $176,000 annually, at the time of posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the anticipated salary range for this position. Additionally, an employee in this position is eligible for a performance-based bonus on an annual basis. Our comprehensive benefits include medical, dental and vision coverage, flexible spending account options and voluntary insurances. We provide an opportunity to invest in your future through our 401(k) program with employer matching and a continuing education reimbursement. We offer 3 weeks of paid time off within the first year of employment, with the option of purchasing additional time off, 8 paid federal holidays, and parental leave benefits. SmithGroup also promotes a healthy work/life balance for our staff which includes an alternative work schedule that provides employees with an additional 15 days off per year (usually Fridays), as well as hybrid work options that give our team the flexibility to work within our vibrant office culture or remotely, as needed.
