Job Summary

Designs art and copy layouts for material to be presented by visual communications media such as books, magazines, newspapers, Internet websites, television, and packaging. Provide design solutions for university devotionals and commencements.

Primary Responsibilities

1. Client and Team Collaboration:Act as a liaison between University Events and University Communications' design team, understanding their objectives and translating them into effective visual solutions.Foster open communication and a collaborative environment to ensure alignment between client expectations and design outcomes. Communication is typically via Microsoft Teams, email, and in-person.Obtain all needed content from your client for assigned projectsOpenly seek and incorporate feedback from clients and team members to refine and enhance design concepts.Provide team members design feedback for their projects.2. Design and Copy-Editing:

Utilize existing templates for flyers, digital signage, and social media to promote devotionals and commencements.Review content to ensure accuracy and compliance to the university editorial style guide and any other applicable style guides (AP Style, Church Style Guide, etc.)Come up with design solutions when content placement needs to be adjusted in the existing templates.Develop a deep understanding of the target audience for each project and design with their preferences and needs in mind.May be assigned to design and create other deliverables that are not mentioned, for these events.3. Project Management:

Abide by project timelines and deadlines to ensure clarity and alignment between clients and the design team.Independently manage multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines and maintain a high standard of quality.Proactively communicate project progress, potential roadblocks, and solutions to clients and team members.Qualifications:

Currently enrolled as a student pursuing a degree in graphic design, visual communications, or a related field.Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Express) and other relevant design tools.Tech-savvy and quick to learn new tools for work processes, such as Monday.com, Microsoft Teams, and using an iMac!Great communication skills, with the ability to articulate design concepts and rationales effectively.Detail-oriented approach to design, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and adherence to brand guidelines.Strong organizational skills, enabling the management of multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously and independently.Proactive problem-solving attitude and ability to collaborate within a team-oriented environment.Previous experience in design projects, client interactions, or presentations is a plus.
