Headquartered in Los Angeles, CA with an office in New York, NY, Birdy Grey supports hybrid work for eligible roles. This role is hybrid, 3-4 days in office. This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship.
Birdy Grey is looking for an
Assistant Technical Designer (Freelance)
to join our Product Development team. This role will require working in our DTLA studio. The Assistant Technical Designer will demonstrate expertise and knowledge in Apparel Production concepts, practices, and procedures. The ideal candidate will have proven success in an Apparel/Garment construction and Manufacturing environment or in a related field. This role will assist our other Technical Designer team, Product Development team, and Production team.Coordinate with the Product Development team to confirm all garments have undergone a pre-fitting check.Pre-measure and spec garments ahead of fittings to ensure compliance with design specifications.Organize racks prior to fittings to facilitate an efficient fitting process.Maintain and manage fit notes and tracking systems for the entire department.Photograph fittings to document adjustments and changes for review.Prepare and steam all samples before fittings to ensure proper presentation.Manage the fit rack, ensuring that all necessary samples are readily accessible and organized.Ensure that previous samples are on the rack before each fitting to maintain continuity and efficiency.Time the fittings to optimize session productivity and adherence to the schedule.Distribute the fit list to involved parties to keep the team informed and prepared.Check samples before fittings and act as a liaison with the Product Development team to address any discrepancies.Organize the sample closets and ensure samples are accessible and up to date.Assist the Technical Designer department in measuring garments to uphold quality standards.THE RIGHT CANDIDATE:

College degree required
EXPERIENCE / REQUIREMENTS:
1+ year of experience inTechnical Design or Patternmaking at a fashion brandExperience with dresses, eveningwear, or special occasionExperience measuring garments and applying to spec sheetsProficiency in PC operation, MS office and Excel, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator softwareFamiliarity with CLO3DUnderstanding of Technical Design process and product constructionExcellent interpersonal skills supporting a team environmentMust be willing to work in a fast-paced environmentStrong planning and organizational skills with a sense of priority for deadlines and attention to detailAbility to recognize and react to changing work demandsAbility to demonstrate proactive problems solving skillsNICE TO HAVES
