Scottsdale Arts was established in 1987 as a private, nonprofit 501(c)(3) and has evolved into an organization with six dynamic operating departments that span the visual and performing arts, arts education and cultural engagement. Summary:

Are you passionate about public art in our community? Do you enjoy working with the public and have experience working events? Are you comfortable in crowds and connecting with a diverse community? Do you have knowledge about visual art and possess the ability to inspire others through discussion and visual engagement? If so, then we are looking for you! We are currently seeking part-time staff to work the event, starting in mid-October thru November 18, 2024. Evenings and weekends are required. Come join the Canal Convergence Team at Scottsdale Arts as an Art Ambassador.

Important Details to Know:

• Compensation: $18.00/hour

• Shift/Hours: Part-time, primary evening hours, must be able to work evenings and weekends. See potential Hours below.

• Education: High School or equivalent plus either pursuing or already have a degree, diploma, or certificate in education, museum education, music, theatre, art, or related field.

• Job Type: Part time, Non-Exempt

• Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Potential Hours/Days:

• Orientation: October (exact date and time TBD; morning and afternoon options will be provided): 2-hour training session and event orientation.

• Event Site Tour: November 7,2024: (Exact time TBD) Artwork/site walk-through with Q&A time at the Scottsdale Waterfront

• Event Shift Hours:

o Nov. 8-9: 5:30-10:30 p.m.

o Nov. 10-14: 5:30-9:30 p.m.

o Nov. 15-16: 5:30-10:30 p.m.

o Nov. 17: 5:30-10:00 p.m.

Requirements

Here is what you will get to do:

Ensure the safety of the artworks, monitor designated event/artwork zones as needed, assist the public with artwork interaction, maintain orderly participation, perform some set-up and closing duties (light cleaning of artworks/site as requested, putting out or taking in signage, etc.), and assist artists and SA staff as needed. Experience working events, crowd control, and knowledge about Scottsdale and the arts.

Here is what you will need to be successful:

Positions require experience in related areas, and the ability to meet the physical demands of the position.

Physical demands: Employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms. Often required to stand; walk; sit; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and will be required to provide set-up and take down for events, work on setup for large scale, outdoor events, walk/navigate large areas of venues during events, work with artist installations, and vendors and their setup needs. The ability to work outdoors, be physically active, and speak with the public for long periods of time is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts, high and precarious places, works indoors and outdoors, and is often exposed to outside weather conditions. This position requires a flexible work schedule of weekdays, weekends, and evenings as business needs dictate.
