Director, Product Marketing - Security

As a Director of Product Marketing for Security, you will be a key player in the growth of our security portfolio. You will effectively position and evangelize the value of our security products to customers and prospects – from software engineers through C-suite tech leaders – and across the market, including to partners, analysts, and press. Leading a team of talented security product marketers, you will collaborate with key stakeholders across product management, sales, sales engineering, and various marketing functions. This role reports to our VP of Product Marketing and requires prior product marketing expertise in infrastructure software, excellent communication skills, and strong technical acumen.

What You'll Do:

Work with key stakeholders to create a go-to-market strategy that drives accelerated growth across Fastly’s security portfolio with tangible success outcomes

Develop a deep understanding of our target audience (goals, constraints, responsibilities), key pain points, Fastly’s unique value propositions, and the competitive landscape

Empathize with and understand the technical, “on-the-ground” challenges our customers face, communicating the value of our security portfolio through the customer’s perspective and in their language

Lead your team in creating messaging, collateral, and sales training while continually iterating to improve. Provide meaningful guidance and feedback on your team’s work while also owning core deliverables yourself

Work with our Content Marketing and Corporate Communications teams to support ongoing thought leadership initiatives for security

Partner closely with our Analyst Relations team to build and deliver compelling analyst pitches while also driving responses for tier one analyst surveys

Work with technical experts across our Product Management and Security Research teams to build consumable content that resonates with a highly technical audience

Partner with our Marketing Operations team to monitor and report out on the success of our security go-to-market efforts on a quarterly basis, driving provable improvements on an ongoing basis

Coach, mentor and develop your team

What We're Looking For:

12+ years of high tech product marketing experience with 3+ years of management experience

Infrastructure software product marketing experience a must - application security, cloud security, and experience supporting a platform offering all a strong plus

Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with senior leadership, analysts, and a highly technical customer base

Prior experience translating technical concepts and descriptions into compelling value propositions for different audiences; ability to see through buzzwords and distill differentiators into clear, concise prose

Ability to think creatively and come up with novel concepts for engaging customers; willing to try bold experiments to learn and iterate

Ruthless focus on empirical evidence to evaluate efficacy and optimize for ROI on efforts

Ability to use infrastructure software products “hands-on” and support GTM efforts as a user tester

Understanding of complex enterprise sales cycles and B2B SaaS packaging

Proven track record of execution on key initiatives/programs

Proficiency in Marketo, Salesforce & reporting tools like Looker

Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field
