Overview

Develop executive-level speech writing and other strategic communications messaging, talking points, thought leader pieces, video scripts, correspondence, etc. for Jim Farley, Ford Motor Company President & CEO, to differentiate the company and its leadership.

Drive thought leadership and work in collaboration with People Leaders and agency partners to determine how Jim Farley shows up in the right CEO level places; leverage his unique leadership to differentiate the brand and establish Ford as a product creation powerhouse.

Provide oversight of integrated, multi-platform, multi-channel communications initiatives that advance Jim Farley’s CEO Communications Strategy and voice to drive measurable results as we compete in an industry undergoing massive disruption.

Through our CEO Communications Strategy, position Jim Farley as a CEO at the forefront of connected vehicles by driving consistent, high-impact storytelling across key stakeholder groups that reinforce the Ford+ plan.

Collaborate across a complex organization undergoing massive change to capture rich, data-driven information to support CEO speechwriting and editing speeches, scripts, talking points, letters, storytelling, and assets with strong, consistent messaging.

Centralize the CEO Communications team operations – including agency partners -- to drive efficiencies in how we work as we tackle both big projects and the demands of the daily workload.

Adopt the Ford+ OS model and behaviors as the global Communications department adopts a data-first approach when evaluating, implementing, and reporting our communications actions.

What you'll do…

Responsible for researching and writing major speeches and other sensitive materials for the CEO. Develop original approaches, incorporating management philosophies, and compose material appropriate to both the speaker and audience.

Create messaging for Jim Farley that takes into consideration his unique style, our Ford+ plan and transformation, the current external environment, including news, economic trends, and political and regulatory developments.

Serve as the point of view (POV) owner for the CEO Communications team to drive strategic advancement of Jim’s Communications strategy and thought leadership for the year.

Lead the development and execution of thought leadership moments and content as part of the CEO Communications Plan to elevate Jim’s voice and build Ford's reputation.

Find new, non-traditional venues for Jim Farley to reach new audiences across our three distinct business segments.

Work with an agency partner to identify and develop proactive storytelling opportunities; identify top journalists, influencers, and podcasters to build relationships with and share stories of strategic importance to the company.

You will have…

Bachelor’s degree in communications, organizational effectiveness, journalism, or equivalent experience.

10+ years of experience in strategic executive communications and speech writing for C-Suite executives and/or top-ranking federal officials.

Even better, you may have…

Master’s degree.

Proficiency in leading C-Suite thought leading initiatives, messaging, opinion pieces, correspondence and driving a broad conversation with key stakeholders on topics important to the company and its leadership.

Excellence in writing and creative storytelling with a keen understanding of audience.

Strong copy-editing skills.

The ability to fluidly navigate between strategy and execution -- can develop high-level strategic plans and also produce crisp, clear strategic communications in the C-Suite executives’ voices.

Demonstrated success in building and implementing communication strategies for C-Suite executives.

Demonstrated excellence in oral, written, and digital communication skills with a clear understanding that relationships matter.

Broad knowledge of recent industry best and emerging practices, including digital and social platforms to engage key stakeholders including employees.
