SUMMARY:

Designs complex engineering products, processes, or equipment, including specifications and assembly and manufacturing sequence, for the company products and/or manufacturing and assembly equipment. Utilizes CAD systems extensively. Regularly uses creative problem solving skills in the accomplishment of alternative design development.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performs such individual assignments as supervisors and superiors may direct; ensures adequate and continuous controls are exercised over all assigned activities affecting quality; establishes and maintains effective work relationships within the department, the Corporation and the community; and maintains the professional competence, knowledge and skill necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities.

Work independently on the development of original designs or adaptations of existing designs after having been given general instructions regarding purpose and parameters.

May supervise Detailers in the accomplishment of projects or assignments.

Participate in the conduct of initial studies and cost estimates for proposed projects and suggests changes to facilitate manufacture and assembly.

Prepare preliminary drawings, sketches or diagrams reflecting basic concepts to obtain confirmation of approach and technique.

Prepare bill of materials and standards or specifications and participate in the development of budgets, release dates and priority schedules charts.

All other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

QUALIFICATIONS :

Able to interpret and produce mechanical drawings, including working knowledge of ASME Y14.100 Engineering Drawing Practices and ASME Y14.5 Dimensioning and Tolerancing standards and practices.

Experienced in the use of both 2D and 3D Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software (Creo Software preferred).

Demonstrated computer literacy, including file management techniques, e-mail and use of Microsoft Office software.

Able to analyze engineering sketches, specifications, and related data to develop drawing and documentation content.

Able to work independently as well as in collaboration with small teams in design, development and support of products.

Strong attention to details, highly organized, computer literate.

Strong mechanical aptitude and visualization/conceptualizing skills.

Knowledge of engineering principles, techniques, methods, and their application.

Good communication skills both written and oral.

Able to manage and prioritize time effectively, while managing multiple projects and tasks.

EDUCATION and or EXPERIENCE:

Associates degree AA or equivalent from two year college or technical school or four years related experience and or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Occasionally required to assist production during initial design build as well as troubleshooting design issues. May be required to travel to customers’ sites.
