POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Marketing & Communications Coordinator Reports To: Director of Development Supervises: N/A Status: Full-Time, exempt

Organization Summary: The mission of Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta is to inspire all girls to be strong, smart, and bold. Our comprehensive approach to whole girl development equips girls to navigate gender, economic, and social barriers and grow up healthy, educated, and independent. Informed by girls and their families, we also advocate for legislation and policies to increase opportunities for all girls and address the systemic barriers that impede girls’ success.

Position SummaryThe Marketing and Communications Coordinator is responsible for executing and managing communication and marketing initiatives that align with Girls Inc. of Greater Atlanta’s mission. This role includes developing content, managing social media, coordinating public relations efforts, and supporting the overall communications strategy to increase visibility, donor engagement, and community involvement.

Key Responsibilities:Content Development: Create and edit compelling content for various platforms, including newsletters, press releases, blogs, social media, and the organization’s website.

Social Media Management: Develop, schedule, and monitor social media content across platforms. Engage with the community online and analyze performance metrics to optimize future posts.

Public Relations: Assist in drafting and distributing press releases, building relationships with media contacts, and coordinating media events or interviews.

Email Marketing: Plan and execute email marketing campaigns, including donor newsletters, event invitations, and fundraising appeals.

Website Maintenance: Regularly update the organization's website with new content, ensuring it is engaging, accurate, and consistent with branding guidelines.

Brand Management: Ensure all communications and marketing materials maintain a consistent tone, style, and messaging that reflects the organization’s brand and mission.

Event Promotion: Assist in the marketing and communication efforts related to fundraising events, including the creation of promotional materials, social media campaigns, and press outreach.

Collaborative Efforts: Work closely with other departments, such as Development and Programs, to align messaging and support organizational goals.

Graphic Design: Create or coordinate the creation of visuals and graphics for digital and print materials.

Analytics and Reporting: Monitor and report on the effectiveness of marketing and communication strategies using tools like Google Analytics, social media insights, and email marketing platforms.

Qualifications:Education: Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or a related field.

Experience: 2-4 years of experience in marketing, communications, or public relations, preferably in the nonprofit sector.

Skills:• Strong writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.• Proficiency with social media platforms, content management systems (e.g., WordPress), and email marketing tools (e.g., Mailchimp).• Basic graphic design skills (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite).• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.• Experience with media relations and public relations strategies.• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

Salary: $42,000 - $48,500

Conditions of EmploymentEmployment by Girls Inc. for all positions is contingent upon successfully passing a criminal background check, including a sex offender check and a review of Department of Motor Vehicles records as required and allowable by law, and pre-employment drug screen. Employees hired for positions requiring a valid driver’s license must be continuously insurable under the Girls Inc. insurance policy throughout their employment period.
