Purpose

Creates content that advances communication efforts to support the CoLA brand for a variety of audiences. Working either individually or as a part of a team, brainstorms, researches, writes, and posts unique and strategic content across multiple platforms. Creates compelling and engaging written, visual, multimedia posts and stories. Oversees projects and implement plans to engage target audiences. Generates analytics reports and provides recommendations to improve visibility and reach. Participates in regular editorial meetings to pitch and develop story ideas. Uses independent judgement. Has autonomy to take on additional duties that increase breadth of these responsibilities. Supervises student interns.

This is a temporary position that will end approximately two years from the date of hire.

ResponsibilitiesManage all day-to-day aspects of UT Austin College of Liberal Arts social content on Instagram, Twitter/X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and YouTube, including creating, scheduling, posting around college and university content pillars, events, emergency alerts, student initiatives and academics, faculty research and achievements, and other related topics as assigned.Develop and creatively execute social media strategies aligned with COLA's goals and University strategic priorities and branding guidelines.Collaborate with Student Affairs and Office of Student Engagement teams, as well as interdisciplinary partners across the university, to maximize impact of content creation efforts.Identify emerging trends on social media and quickly generate content to capitalize, promote thought leadership of the college, and grow engagement within each platform.Create and oversee social media campaigns, including paid social media advertising strategies and budgets, particularly around student recruitment and admissions.Enact a social listening strategy and actively engage with COLA community by responding to comments and messages.Analyze engagement data and social media metrics to identify trends in follower interactions and refine content strategy.Other related functions as assignedRequired Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in related field and at least two years related experience. Creativity, demonstrated communication skills in writing, demonstrated photo and video production and editing experience, demonstrated graphic design experience.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

Additional experience beyond required qualifications. Deep familiarity with social media platforms and audiences, the cadence of trends and how to adapt trends for an academic institution and tier one research university. Strong storytelling skills and ability to translate brand into visuals. Ability to use photo and video production experience to produce short-form, mobile video projects (1-3 per week for IG, etc.) and photography. Passionate about the value of the liberal arts and the study of the humanities, and bringing that ethos into reimagined contexts on social. Experience in project management and working within tight deadlines among multiple stakeholders

Salary Range

$54,000 + depending on qualifications

Retirement Plan Eligibility:The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
