About the HCHSA:In sports, a dynasty is a team or individual that dominates their sport or league for an extended length of time. Over the last 25 years, the Harris County - Houston Sports Authority (HCHSA) has served as the sports marketing agency for the city of Houston and Harris County and has dominated the competition with the hardware to prove it.. The HCHSA is responsible for bidding on and attracting new sports events to the Houston area, as well as overseeing the marketing and operations of these events. The events include NCAA Final Fours, College Football Playoffs, CONCACAF Gold Cup, 2026 FIFA World Cup, MLB and NBA All-Star Games, ITTF World Table Tennis Championships and the annual National Battle of the Bands.

Upcoming major events include but are not limited to: NCAA D-III National Football Championship, AAU Junior Olympics, World Baseball Classic, World Cup, UCI BMX World Championships.

Position Summary (Full-Time)Marketing:Develop marketing strategies and timelines for HCHSA and HCHSA-partnered events

Work to identify HCHSA's marketing role, goals, and resources for each project and eventCreate a research-based strategy that includes guidelines for marketing and promotionsDevelop and communicate marketing timelines and expectations of HCHSA staff, contractors, and event partners

Negotiate, facilitate, track and analyze all media buys and other paid promotional activities

Manage content and content placementManage agency support as necessary

Direct the creation and production of collateral materials

Print, web, social, etc.

Utilize research methodology to create succinct and integrated marketing strategiesBrand Management:

Ensure brand standards are adhered to for both HCHSA and all event properties.

Print and collateral materialsBusiness cards, letterhead, email signatures, and all other applications of the HCHSA logo and brand.

Develop and communicate brand standards for new events, marks, and properties

Communicate the brand personality and voice internally

Event Signage - Manage all aspects of HCHSA signage needs to include placement, design, production, installation and removal as needed.

Ensure that the brand standards and designated approval processes are followed by staff, vendors, partners and contractors.

Qualifications:A four-year degree in marketing, communications or journalism is preferred, or equivalent experience. Excellent written and verbal communications skills; demonstrate organizational, interpersonal, and problem solving skills; knowledge of the Houston community;

5 - 10 years of experience working in the areas of community relations, marketing, integrated marketing communications, and/or media;

working knowledge of Microsoft Office; basic skills in Illustrator/ Photoshop a plus; strong familiarity with social media. Must be an enthusiastic team player willing to work flexible hours, including occasional evenings, weekends and holidays when needed.
