Principal Firmware Design Engineer

is responsible for requirements analysis and decomposition, sub-system design, modeling, simulation, and design verification test. The Principal FW Design Engineer will work with other experienced engineers, will have strong written and verbal communication skills, and will have the ability to work independently yet collaboratively in a team environment.Job Summary:This position is for an electrical engineer to work in the ROIC and Digital Products Department at the Electronic Warfare Systems of Raytheon.

As a critical team member, the Principal FW Design Engineer will design, develop, integrate test the most technologically advanced EW Products in the world.

The Principal FW Design Engineer is responsible for developing requirements analysis and decomposition of sub-system and circuit design, modeling, simulation and design verification test.Digital Signal Processing and Design in the following areas:VHDL/Verilog Design using Intel and/or Xilinx toolsDigital Hardware design in the following areas:Subsystem/Module Digital Circuits, FPGA knowledge, COTS Interfaces, High Speed Memory Interfaces, Subsystem Development, VME/PCI/SPI interfaces Digital Systems, System Trades, Architecture, Embedded ProcessingQualifications You Must Have:Typically requires a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) degree discipline and a minimum of 8+ years of experience in one or more of the following areas:Digital Signal ProcessingIntel/Altera and/or AMD/Xilinx FPGAsIntel Quartus Prime Pro and/or VivadoDesigning in Matlab/Simulink with DSP Builder and HDL Coder blocksetsDigital hardware design and firmware integrationThe ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required within one year of start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.Qualification We Prefer:12+ years’ experience with AMD/Xilinx, Intel/Altera, or Microsemi FPGAsExperience in High Level Modeling tools and languages such as SystemVerilog or SystemCExperience with analytical tools such as Questa Firmware SimulationExperience with code coverage tools for evaluating test coverageWhat We Offer:Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills. This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
