Senior Technical Writer

with experience working in the marine industry to support the USCG Ship Design Team in

Washington, DC.

An ideal candidate will be a motivated self-starter. The ideal candidate must have demonstrated experience with technical writing and editing, proficiency with common productivity software, and have a strong familiarity with U.S. Coast Guard and U.S. Navy naval engineering terminology and methodology.

Typical Responsibilities:

The candidate's responsibilities may include (but are not limited to) performing or supporting the following actions:Provide research and support services, and review of specifications, documentations, and document changes.Meet with Subject Matter Experts to ensure topics are properly addressed and adjudicated during all phases of specification development, including copy and edit feedback from industry and team members.Prepare, review and revise and maintain technical documents relating to shipboard and marine use, including CDRL, specification, and SOW development and management.Analyze, interpret, and cross-check information to ensure accuracy.Develop, publish, amend, and maintain technical publications used to support the Coast Guard.THOR Solutions

Location:

Hybrid. ~2-3 days/week onsite at USCG Headquarters in Washington DC, and remainder may be flex/telework. Position may require additional regular onsite days, up to full time onsite, based on contract & customer requirements.

US Citizenship Required: Due to the requirements of the federal contract that this position supports, U.S. citizenship is required. Citizenship will be confirmed via I-9/E-Verify at the start of employment.

Typical Physical Activity : Desk/computer work in an office environment. May involve: repetitive motion.

Security Clearance Eligibility Required: This position requires a DoD Secret security clearance. A qualified candidate must either:

Already possess an active or interim Secret security clearance (preferred);OR be eligible for a Secret security clearance upon hire.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Bachelor's degree in Technical Writing (preferred) or another relevant discipline.

In lieu of a relevant Bachelor's degree, additional relevant experience obtained in a marine or defense environment may be considered.

At least six (6) years of recent, relevant experience with writing and reviewing technical documents.

Experience obtained in a marine or defense environment is highly preferred.

Expert knowledge of industry standard desktop publishing and word processing software (including Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat).Ability to independently prepare, review, and revise and maintain publication-ready technical documents.Excellent communication skills.Benefit Offerings:
