Req #21312Monday, July 24, 2023The Salvation Army, an internationally recognized non-profit, faith-based organization, has an opening for a Grants & Public Relations Coordinator for the Office, located in McAllen, Texas.Job Summary:

Plans, directs, monitors and evaluates all public relations functions for the Corps to ensure that The Salvation Army maintains a favorable and positive image in the communities; serves as liaison to all media ensuring the desired message is communicated; photographs and writes articles covering Salvation Army events; finds, develops, writes, submits, and administrates local foundation, corporate, state, and federal grants; administers existing grants and ensures compliance with contract restrictions; serves as liaison to funding sources.Essential Functions:Researches, locates, studies, prioritizes, and contacts existing and new funding sources in order to apply for grant funds.Assists the supervisor in the creation of a budget for public relations efforts including print, promotions, and other public relations related activities; administers and monitors the public relations budget.Prepares grant applications and compiles required paperwork to maximize opportunities for financial support for The Salvation Army programs.Explores, develops and implements partnerships and collaborative consortiums/programs/projects with other groups and organizations.Develops and writes contractual/collaborative agreements with other organizations.Provides financial and program oversight of all grant/contractual agreements.Plans and implements public relations programs for The Salvation Army McAllen / Hidalgo County; coordinates internal and external public relations activities for Corps.Writes various articles and press releases to communicate and promote the service and progress of The Salvation Army in the community.Designs, develops, and prepares brochures, annual reports, and a quarterly newsletter designed to keep donors, media, and those requesting information of The Salvation Army up-to-date on activities.Supervises and participates in the creation, preparation and/or upgrading of promotional materials.Produces and submits news and press releases and media packets for television, radio stations, and all area newspapers.Attends Salvation Army events and special meetings to take photographs and write articles for publication.Creates and updates the crisis management plan.Prepares and sends public relations information about Salvation Army programs to the general public.Contacts the media to create awareness of special interest or events of The Salvation Army.Serves as primary staff contact for the Public Relations Committee of the Advisory Board.Serves as primary spokesperson with media regarding all Army activities in the county.Publishes content, photos, and graphic elements to the website; edits content to keep the site up-to-date.Posts daily content to social media sites.Performs other duties as assigned.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:Knowledge of effective and efficient methods for organizing and maintaining records.Knowledge of the principles and practices of grant administration and grant writing skills.Ability to read and understand complex application documents.Ability to prepare and maintain reports in an accurate, complete and timely manner.Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.Ability to plan, organize and prioritize work in order to accomplish tasks in compliance with quality standards and deadlines.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:Education and Experience:

High school diploma or G.E.D. required with one to two years of college courses in public relations, business administration, public administration or related field, and one year of applicable public relations and/or development work experience or any equivalent combination of training and experience which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.Certifications:

Valid State Drivers License.Physical Requirements:

Ability to meet attendance requirements, read, write and communicate the English language effectively, work under pressure of deadlines, and travel to various locations for meetings.Working Conditions:
