Director of Sports Marketing and Fan Engagement- Athletics

Reporting to the Assistant Athletic Director for Fan Engagement, Sports Marketing and Promotions, the Director of Sports Marketing and Fan Engagement will support the execution of marketing strategies for Hampton Pirates Athletics. This position works independently, to carry out responsibilities for the development, coordination, and implementation of game day experience, digital marketing, and community outreach initiatives. This position will be lead strategy for driving student attendance/engagement as well as membership to the Hampton Pirates Kids Club.Job DutiesWork with Assistant Athletics Director for Marketing to develop strategy to reach attendance and other fan development goals.Communicate regularly with members for all other external units and coaching staffs to maximize collaboration.Lead marketing, game day experience and ticket sales initiatives for Men’s Basketball.Assist in the recruiting, training and scheduling of graduate assistants and undergraduate marketing staff.Assist with digital and social media marketing campaigns (website, email, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)Serve as the primary contact for community outreach requests (mascot appearances, donation requests, etc.)Embodies the Hampton University core values: integrity, respect, decency, dignity, and responsibility.Performs other duties as assigned.Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in marketing or sports management4+ years of previous relevant experience in marketing, ticket sales, and/or Fan ExperienceExtensive functional knowledge of marketing with specific understanding of sports marketing conceptsExperience collaborating with coaches and serving student-athletes.Strong interpersonal and communication skillsPresentation, planning and project management skills.A knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations with a history of complianceQualifications:Experience using the Adobe Creative Cloud Suite, focus on Photoshop and PremiereExperience leading and supervising the work of junior staff and interns.A demonstrated commitment to innovation and creativitySkills to think critically of new ideas that can support strategic plan development and execution.H ow to Apply:Please submit a cover letter, resume, and a completed Application for Educational Support Staff Employment via email at HROffice@hamptonu.edu or fax to (757) 727-5969:Office of Human ResourcesHampton UniversityHampton, VA 23668***No phone calls
