Position description

The UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music invites applications for a part-time Lecturer in Music Industry for the Fall and Winter quarters of the 2024-25 academic year. The position will staff a two-quarter sequence of courses in Finance and Accounting for the Music Industry, designed as an introduction to business principles and practices for first- and second-year Music Industry majors. Salary will be commensurate with applicant's qualifications and experience.

Applicants should understand finance and accounting in the entertainment industries, including management of funds, budgeting, financial analysis, fee scales, servicing agreements, royalties, licensing, etc. They should have the ability to communicate financial principles and techniques to music students not specializing in finance and be ready to work with students possessing differing levels of quantitative skill. Responsibilities will include individual student teaching supervision and assigned undergraduate courses in the School of Music. Applicants should have a graduate degree in Music Business, Finance, Accounting or related fields; have relevant professional certification; or have relevant professional experience. Experience in the music industry will be preferred.

Basic qualifications

Bachelor's degree in a related field or a minimum of one professional certification in a related field

Professional experience in finance and accounting

Financial experience in the music or entertainment industry

Preferred qualifications

Advanced degree in business, finance, or accounting

Experience in the music industry
