The Marketing & Communications Manager will develop and coordinate the execution of marketing strategies to increase awareness, engagement, and revenue goals for the organization. This position serves as the chief storyteller, social media manager, digital, video, podcast, and print content creator and publisher, website administrator, and point of contact for all media outlets.Principal Duties and ResponsibilitiesResponsible for creating and publishing the organization’s online presence including web content, blog, ads, social media, and podcast.Seeks opportunities to increase online presence, and provides analytical reporting to VP, Advancement monthly or as requested.Identifies opportunities to highlight success stories of veteran clients and conducts interviews for video stories, blog content, fundraising appeals, newsletters, and grant reports.Develops content for and oversees the creation and distribution of email marketing including e-newsletters, special event promotions, and solicitations.Designs print & digital marketing material including annual report, program brochures, event flyers, and other resources as requested.Engages local and state media outlets to advocate on behalf of the homeless veteran population and promote HVAF’s impact.Collaborates and coordinates with funders, community partners, and staff to share information via social media, website, and marketing emails.Creates and follows annual marketing calendar.Assists with digital fundraising campaigns, special events, and represents HVAF at community events as needed.Skills RequiredMust have a valid Indiana driver’s license and be eligible for HVAF’s auto insurance at all times during employment.Must be able to complete a background screening with an acceptable outcome.Ability to lift, move, and organize items up to 45 pounds.Strong writing, editing, proofreading, layout and design, professional printing/publishing skills are essential, including ability to present concepts verbally.Ability to work independently with strong analytical thinking and problem-solving skills and also effectively collaborate with other teams and departments within the agency.Ability to think creatively and strategically.Ability to manage a fast-paced, deadline-driven work environment, responding quickly and professionally to competing priorities.Strong project manager with attention to details in planning and execution.Ability to multi-task, prioritize and set goals.Ability to interact, collaborate and communicate effectively with donors, media, clients, and senior level staff.Experience with coordination and preparation of project budgets.Maintain a positive attitude and demeanor in all situations.Dedication and commitment to the agency and to helping people.Education/ExperienceBachelor’s degree in related field (marketing, communications, journalism, etc.)Five or more years of marketing or communications experience, with strong knowledge and understanding of current trends in multichannel marketing.Experience in social media management.Experience in graphic design (InDesign, Photoshop, Canva, etc).Experience with a web content management system (WordPress)Experience in video editing (Premiere Pro, Canva)Experience with media relations.Experience with email marketing platforms (MailChimp) preferred.Experience with fundraising a plus.The above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work required of this position.
